Hello guys,

I'm from Portugal and I'm a huge JDM fan, I owned a Crx B16A1, Civic B16A2, Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart 4G15T.
I moved to Spain and I noticed that here they have DSM's...I was surprised, they don't exist in Portugal! So I'm crazy af and I need to buy one.
Can you please tell me the difference of these 2 1G GSX? It's only cosmetic front end or it changes mechanics aswell?
What should I get?
BTW sorry for my english.
Thank you for the reply!

Looks like your top picture is 1ga (1990-1991) and the bottom is a 1gb (1992-1994). The 1ga's had pop-up headlights vs the fixed headlights of the 1gb's (front bumpers are slightly different too). I believe that 1990 cars had slight differences in the wiring harness (sensors), transmission/shifter, and ecu (I think). Mitsubishi made the changes after the first model year and I believe that most parts can transfer between the 1991-1994 cars. I am sure there are things I am missing, but others may chime in.

Ty for the reply guys, I will wait for more reply's.
But if the difference is only pure cosmetic, I will go for 1GA, so sexy :)

Hello and welcome to dsmtuners.

90-91 DSMs like stated above have pop up headlights different front and rear bumper. They also come with the better stronger 6 bolt engine and better brakes. However they have the weaker 3 bolt rear end. Most people on here will recommend the 1ga.

Bottom picture is 92-94 DSM these come with the 7 bolt engines and smaller brakes. They do have the stronger 4 bolt rear end. Some of the early 92 models have the 6 bolt engine with the stronger 4 bolt rear end. Just have to be lucky enough to find one. Hope this helps!

This is backwards. 90-92 have small brakes. 93 94 are bigger ONLY on awd cars.

So If I get a 1GA, I will get a 6 bolt engine for sure, right? Assuming its stock. Thank you. I want to go with GSX, they are a little far from me....but thats what I'm looking for. I know ita off topic, but you guys know any store in Europe or an US company that can sell to me? Stuff like O-Rings, rubber stuff that can need replacement when I buy the car. Specific DSM stuff.

I would assume any of our Vendors will ship to you if your willing to throw the coin for it.

Would you recommend someone?

Jnz tuning, stm, extreme psi etc. There's a list of vendors at the bottom of the page (mobile phone) or bottom right if you're on a pc.

Jnz and stm offer alot of oem replacement parts like gaskets, o-rings and other maintenance parts. Shipping will be spendy, but if your order is big enough it won't hurt the pocket book too bad.

Ty for all the help. Now I just need to find a really nice specimen and buy it. I've seem lot's of GST's in mint condition...but I think the way to go should be GSX.

Yes assuming its original any popup should be 6 bolt. A 1gb car will alao be six bolt up to build date of april 1992 which should include most if not all 1992 models.

Another off topic question, to be honest I'm trying to choose between a 1GA GSX and a 200SX S14 Silvia. Do you think I will regret choosing the GSX?

on the contrary tbh i rekon you will be dissapointed if you get the s14, there are so many of them here in my country. not one person i know with one is happy with the sr20dett, its all rb this and 1j that, from my experience not many people do well pushing the limits of the stock bottom end or the sr20. not saying its a bad motor, and there are 10-11 sec nissan 4cyl out there, if you have your heart set on turbo rwd though, i friend of mine who is into his toyota/nissan imports claims that the sr20 bolts up to the transmission bellhousing of the toyota 86 or frs for you guys over there. food for thought

should add i have in no way verified this just thinking out loud

The GSX and S14 are quite rare here...well i Know that the SR20DET can hold up to 360 stock internals. What about the GSX?

im assumingng the gsx has a 4g63t? i know of a car in australia that rand mid 11's and made 450-500 kw on the stock 6 bolt block, only thing done to the block was b.s.d and rod bolts. didnt last more than six months but it held together, did a few passes, had a few days on the dyno working way over its 'believed' threshold. which is that a stock 6 bolt block is only good for 300kw before things break. simply not true if modded right.
7 bolt blocks are very good too but the stock bottom end cannon be pushed as far as the 6 bolt
once again sorry about the metric/ imperial talk, 300kw is approx 400hp i believe
nissan parts are cheap in my part of the world so im used to seeing 5 import nissans to every evo or whatever. they're loud and slow but they drift/handle well, if your driving the car on public roads your going to get more smiles per mile from the gsx in my opinion, unless your trying to get tickets :). assuming that it does have a 4g63t power plant
