1g talon Front end swap

search engine seems to not wanna work i tried "1g front end swap" jus keeps timing out....



anyhow i figured since the car was already in a wreck and i was lookin mabye for a new hood....possibly swapping out the front end and get rid of the headlights that tend to wink....doesnt seem like id need much other then the Hood lights and thats it?


or are the bumpers and fenders different?!?!?!?!??!?!?!

If you are referring to swapping the front end for the pop up headlights 90-91 to the front end with the normal fixed headlights 92-94 there are a couple of other things. The fenders and bumper are also diferent. The fenders have a diferent pocket for the turn signal and the front bumper has a diferent center section for in between the headlights.

If you are talking about headlight that continues to cycle for about 3 to 5 seconds you have a bad relay in the passenger side fuse/relay box under the hood. It is the largest of the units mounted at a 45degree angle. It is the same unit that is used under the dash for the power door locks.

Best to surch a pick&pull, They are around $60+ at parts stores

it hasnt went out yet,....jus my car had some Front end damage and i was thinking of a CF hood seeing as the stock weighs about 300lbs and i cant seem to find 1 for a 1g plus my paint guy would cut me a deal on paint about a xtra 300 off if he didnt have to paint a hood....

the write up sad i could use the same bumper id jus need fenders and i need to replace the F/L turn signa assembly anyway i figured if imma be buying these parts might as well change everything over anc get what i want...no?l

There are usually CF hoods for your style on ebay. However, I can't believe that my hood weighs 300lbs, haha. I would think it would be much harder to lift if that were correct.

hahha i was being sarcastic....... but i have a cf on my se-r right now and when i picked the DSM up and tried lifting the hood i was like sunuvabitch...........


heard they made a cf hatch too? think that would be overkill unless it had a lexan window or something

so i went to cash and carry found me a 92 talon with a busted headlight but no body damage...

thats all i should need aside the headlights


now....my new ? is can i use the headlights from an 92 eclipse with the talon parts? if not ill splurge on headlights on sleazbay " JDM TIGHT YO"

you're gonna have to cut away the metal pieces welded onto the core support that's used to hold in the turn signals. if you don't, the lights won't fit. if you need any insight, pm me. on my old talon, i did a 1ga conversion on it.

You should post pictures of what you do to help out the next guy that decides to do this. Im pretty sure there are quite a few people that want to do it but arent sure of what it will take. Its always good to help out the next guy.

There are a few spots that sell 1Ga carbon fiber hoods, as well as popup covers if you don't want the Tetris look. Love my popups too much to ever swap over to the 1Gb fixed beams. :b

i hear you...but my car was wrecked and i need the parts/sidemarkers middle grill bumper bracket...all of which through EBAY would cast me the same as the swap .... and we only got 2 junkyards here and i found the perfect donor car...... me and my friend are going to strip it down on the 1st and probably do the whole swap ...ill def take pics were gonna make it a weekend thing...


just instead of having a Bronze car with 1 black fender and a black bumper

The 1gb headlights are the same on all DSM's, so you can use Eclipse lights on a Talon or Talon lights on a Laser and so on. And if you look online or on Ebay you can find clear headlights and corner lights new for about $100. Good luck and post some picks once it's all done.

i figured as much ### they have a couple eclipses sitting theyre with headlights i jus didnt wanna have to come 100$on lights jus to get the project started...


so ill snatch the eclipses but keep the wiring and light sockets from the talon..........

but yea ill keep an update ...it's gonna look like shit till i get it painted....


me and friends are debating weather or not to Flatblack spray paint...

Get it done by my body shop guy...anywhere from 1500-3000$

a maaco job

I have to replace my front fenders on both sides because of cancer right behind the corner lights. I will probably end up with a multi color car until I find the money to get the car painted. But you know nothing says sleeper like primer or a flat black paint job

Yea hahha im debating though i kinda bought this car as a Daily driver/project/scca/track haahha

so many slashes....i mean i could spend 15$ in flat black then dump the rest in the engine....

mabye even think of an A/C


butehh weve been talking about gutting the whole back out....because if i do paint it black ill still have this awful brown interior.....so...i could always buy some more Gold/pewter paint and fix the dings and respray with a somewhat matching interior...


or buy racing seats

And I guess Evo drivers are the same across the nation. Kinda like Mac owners I guess. Assuming that they laid out the money, so they're better than something cheaper... when we can be a whole lot faster and more agile, for a total price tag half the size of a stock base-model Evo.

theres a kid in my CC with a evo and he doesnt have that syndrome....whenever he needed a DD id always do it...gotta love hittin 165 and feelin like your bout to take flight..that and the fact 90% of the other evos on the road have no mods = / so spankin them is always good for a laugh





but as far as painting we got a gun.....jus...im not to good with bondo pullin dents etcetcetc....i could always paint over them i guess......


but i rather have it as nice as possible = / my fiance says i should repaint it the same gold color so the interior matches.....
