Montreal,
Hey guys, I was thinking of buying a Eagle Talon ESI somewhere around 90-92 the year. Where I live I mostly found ESI compared to TSI and most of the TSI's here have alot of problems. If I bought a ESI, would I be able to take a turbo from a TSI and install it into the ESI engine or would I have to buy a turbo kit? Also wt would be the difference from a ESI turbo and a TSI if they both were FWD? Thanks alot guys :)

Im sure the internals are the biggest difference. lower compression for the turbo motors and higher compression for the n/t. you could swap the parts but I think you would have to turn down the boost lower than a stock tsi. hopefully someone that has turboed a non turbo will chime in. The internals for a non turbo are not near as good as the internals for a stock turbo as well. the 6 bolts turbos can take a ton of power.

ok answer your question yes you could trubo the n/t motor. there are down sides one being the oil squiters in the nt motor the blow up under boost two like metion above the compression ratio is diffrent 9:1 on the nt motor its not so bad but the nt pistions dont have much meterial on the top so they cant handle lots of boost and you HAVE to run 93 octane no matter what and theres not much clutch options eaither for a nt car its up to you. you will need a turbo oil pan oil reurn line feed line water lines exhaust manifold turbo down pipe turbo mass air and it will need to be rewired turbo ecu resiter pack turbo injectors and fpr fuel pump intake pipe i thnik thats it but its not worth it if you ask me. if i were you i would buy a tsi cheap and rebuild it

thanks for the reply guys, I found a TSI AWD for 1000$, but the first gear doesnt work and the guy bought the car for parts and he took out the 4X4, would I be able to drive without the 4x4? Also in the future if I buy this car I will put the pieces back together and fix it up, but do you think its worth it? Thanks

no u cant drive it without the 4x4 stuff its not worth 1k without a rear end but i would buy a 92-94 rear if you buy it and have a 4 bolt as for fixing first gear send the tranny out and have it built or look for another car id offer the guy 500 no more and that seems high for me without a rear end. is the drive shaft there ?

ye the drive shaft is still there, but your right I dont think its worth it either. I'm sure sooner or later I will find a TSI for atleast $1000-$1500. Plus for ESI it will cause me to much trouble putting turbo in it as I will have to change alot of stuff, so it would be easier for me just to get a talong TSI fwd :)

isnt the esi the 1.8 ltr sohc. if so dont bother boosting it. the ES is the dohc 2.0L

intercooler, piping, turbo, exhaust manifold, downpipe, intake, air filter, turbo collant pipe, turbo oil pan. turbo oil line. bov. probably about it. I think its not worth it.

ye I agree with you, it doesn't seem like its worth getting esi or es, so i'll just keep looking for a TSI and hope I find one for a good deal :), thanks alot guys for your help :D
