Resolved 1G ECU questions.

so my car fried its ECU the other day.... caps leaked, it smells nasty.

I've found a TURBO AWD automatic ecu,out of a laser, will this ECU work? my car is pretty much bone stock (K+N dropin and some free mods, stock exhaust, stock boost)

my car is a TSI AWD 5spd.

I've also found a turbo/5spd FWD ecu, how about this one?

I don't know where all the turbo awd talons went but I can't find any.

I actually may have found a whole really nice turbo FWD that needs some work butu has a nice body.. maybe I'll get it if I can't find an ECU for mine.

Well the ECU for the AWD auto car will not work for yours. The one however for the turbo 5-speed should work. Reason is there are sensors on an auto tranny which tell it when to shift. Since your a manual, you dont have those same sensors. And as far as the difference between your AWD car and the FWD, that wont make any difference for the ECU as there are no sensors on the drivetrain after it leaves the tranny.

The 5-speed ECU will work with the and 5-speed car, FWD or AWD.

The Auto ECU will not work with any 5-speed car.

My wifes FWD Eclipse is running my old Talons AWD ECU.

I found a '90 AWD 5spd ECU last 3 numbers on it are 903, car runs and works perfectly!
last 3 numbers on my ecu were 262.

it does seem to take /slightly/ longer cranking time but it still starts in less than a second so I'm not complaining.
