I have a 92 Eclipse GS that has a GST engine in it.

When the swap was done (before I owned the car) they didn't change the wiring harness or the ECU. I think it would be best to buy a new ECU (and probably a harness too?). I also was looking into getting a DSMLink because I think that would help me diagnose/fix some of my problems.

Since the DSMLink requires an EPROM ECU and I have to buy an ECU anyways, how can I make sure when I buy an ECU that it's an EPROM? Where is the best place to buy one?

I saw a site that modifies a regular ECU into an EPROM but I would rather just get one to begin with. Do you think it is a good or bad idea to try and find one from a junkyard? Thanks.

If the car was originally a GS and now is a GST it wouldnt be able to run on the N/A ecu, Im assuming that this is a typo and you meant GST for both, anyways ill go on with the other questions. Limit your searches now to a 95' ecu, after that once you find one out of a GST or GSX then you can verify the serial on it with DSMLink to see if it's an EPROM, although almost all 95's are theres that little possibility that it may not be. As for finding one check the classifieds from all the other DSMrz on here and you can come across them from time to time, if your lucky enough to find one in a junkyard go for it, as long as they let you test before you pay. Hope it helps and good luck :thumb:

the ecu wasn't changed...and the car doesn't run well...but it does run...I wrote someone at jestr tuning (http://www.jestrtuning.com/) and they said "Other than that [missing sensors], your car will run just fine with a stock ECU. If anything,
you may want to check if it has an eprom. You can just modify the NA eprom
ecu to serve your purposes." but I need to get the wiring harness for the gst and the ecu...because I do have problems...and that is partially why.

thank you for the suggestions though. You were very helpful.
