Alright, well here i am asking another question. i feel bad i have already asked 3 or 4, and don't have many answers for others (im 17 and just starting to really get into cars)

Anyway, here's the deal: I'm going to pick up a bumper, headlight housings and possibly a door and a hood from a craigslist guy clearing out a TON of DSM body stuff. but i noticed he said hes selling an EPROM ECU($150.00) and EPROM Chip($25.00). He doesn't mention what year they are.

I can do some basic engine work/mods along with body work, but i don't know a thing about tuning, or ECUs. From what i hear I'll need to tune my ECU a bit when i turbo my car if i plan on building my car for any decent boost, and to ensure minimal wear on the engine.

So here's what I'm wondering:
-will this bolt right on to my 95 :dsm: GS? (420a) or will i need to mod it to accommodate this ECU (EPROMs are the flash-able turbo ECU's right?)
-will i be able to set it up to run with my N.A. 420a for the time being?
-is there even enough information there to know for sure, or should i ask him for some more; like the year, and model it came out of?
-how much $ am i looking at spending on software to set this up?
-Here's the link to the posting (vague as it is)

I did a little searching, but to be honest i don't understand most of whats said on the threads i read. I'm good with computers, i have a family friend that brings em too me if hes having trouble with one at his computer-shop so i should be able to pick this up if someone willing to explain how it works a little, but try and keep it simple for me!
Thanks so much for reading, and answers, and sorry im so uneducated!
hope this helps some others as well! :thumb:

You can not use the turbo ecu in your 420a. Iirc the only tuning options for a 420a are port fueler, fmu, or a standalone like mega squirt. It's a ton of work and money to turbo the 420a, in my honest oppion most 17 year olds can't afford to do it, not saying you can't though. As for the body everything bolts on identical with all 2gs minus the 95-96 and 97-99 front bumper and headlights. If you use a 95-96 bumper you have to use 95-96 head lights and vice versa with the 97-99 or there will be a gap between the headlights and bumper if you were to use 95 headlights with a 97 bumper.

To elaborate on what mchustle said: you can use any talon headlights with any talon front bumper. You can use any talon headlights on the 95-96 eclipse bumper. If you decide you want a 97-99 eclipse front bumper then you'll have to buy 97-99 eclipse headlights. If you don't, you'll get a small gap, but it will be secured. Its not too horrible but nevertheless its still a gap.

alright thanks, and ya, the more i look into ti the more i think i might just keep this car as a DD/beater and buy a gst for a project car. i work about 20 hours a week, and never waste a dime on snacks or video games , so i have plenty of cash... atm i dont wanna pull more than about 9k outta my bank, but just outta curiosity what are the odds of me finding a nice 2g dsm-t and getting into the 12-13 second range with that much? (although id prefer to spend around 7 k)

thanks for the details on body fitment, i think il be picking some stuff up from this dude
