1g dsm water+oil issue

i got a 1992 Talon fwd tsi, ive done all the searches and pressure tests i could, theres only 13lbs of presure in the coolant system, left the pressure test on for 1hour and no drops, nothing is getting into the cylinders either, i know its not my ECI or intake, as i had taken it appart and checked for water and conensation, only traces of oil. im thinking it might by my small inter-cooler, perhaps its leaking ?

anyone have the same issue or know of the same issue that could possibly help me out at this stage?

Have you done a block test?

Just because your cooling system passed a pressure test does not mean the headgasket isn't leaking.

This is the most common cause of oil and coolant mixing.

Three other, less likely causes are that

1. If you have an automatic transmission, the radiator has oil cooler lines going to the radiator and they are mixing there.
2. You or someone else over torqued the nut behind the oil filter causing them to mix there.
3. The turbo center section is somehow allowing them to mix.

Again, all of those are unlikely. Do the block test first.

Also, I don't know why you would think your intercooler or intake would allow that to happen but neither of those will cause this issue.

i will go get a tester, but whats confusing, is if it was the headgasket it should be going into the combustion chamber also, correct?
(its a standard operated vehicle not automatic, but good to know!)
I havent overtorqued the bolt behind the oilfilter, but i wouldnt mind checking (any specs on that bolt torque?).
and once i do the block test what should i do from there, what does the block test confirm exactly, as i read on you're link it shows me if its combusting i take the #1 SparkPlug out to purge the coolant, but what confuses me is it dosent really confirm the problem of it mixing with the oil in my mind. and instead of purging since my oil is contaminated (which risks scorching the cylinders at running tempature right?) wouldnt it be best to drop the fluids and refill them?.

Head gaskets can be a "one way leak" so to speak that won't necessarily show up on a pressure test, but when you are operating your vehicle, exhaust gases will overwhelm the cooling system (as they operate at a much higher pressure) and push into the coolant system causing the oil and coolant to mix, as well as coolant to be purged from the overflow. One way to check is to leave the the thermostat cap off, start the car, and watch it idle. If coolant starts pouring out the top, the thermostat or cooling system is clogged somewhere or the headgasket is shot.

A block test has nothing to do with spark plugs. It simply tells you if exhaust gases are present in the cooling system. You check it at the thermostat housing.

After the bock test, I would do a compression test. If it passes the block test and the compression test, it's almost guaranteed to not be a head gasket but something else.

Report back with your results after both of those tests.

Also, just fyi, you can rent a block tester, fluid, and compression tester at most auto parts stores.
