1G 1G DSM Unknown Transmission

I have a 90 non turbo 4g63. Had issues with my transmission making noises and grinding when shifting but goes into gear and still driveable. Now that Im in the process of taking apart the car for a paintjob I'm not sure if this is the correct transmission for this. I was expecting to see F5M22 but this is totally different. Is anyone familiar with this transmission? I cant find details of it on google.

Also if anyone has pictures of their transmission, I would appreciate if you could post images of them

Looks like a KM transmission but I can’t tell. It looks like someone stamped a custom code over the actual spot where it would normally say “KM123” or FM522 or whatever.

Agreed. For that VIN, the transmission model pops up in CAPS as KM206-0-DJNS, part number MD995455. Very early transmission - VIN specifies production period of the vehicle to be the first third of March, 1989.

Why the KA instead of KM20, I haven’t a clue.

Ok, I thought the transmission has already been replaced but I just realized that it's my vehicle's VIN stamped on it. Would swapping in a 90 F5M22 be bolt on? Or do I need to worry about swapping driveshafts and other stuff?

It appears another ‘90 non-turbo transmission should be a direct swap. I cross-referenced part numbers for clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, fork, slave cylinder, and both axles against a December 1989 non-turbo VIN. They all match. The transmission for the December VIN, however, is the standard F5M22-2VPZS.
