Ok so i let my brother drive my car 1 F$&*@ing time and he said the car died and wouldnt go into gear for him and everytime he put it in get it would rev high and then die....

So i get back home from out of town and start my car and while the car is in neutral its has momentum like its in gear!?!??!

i put it in reverse and its a forward gear??

i put it in first its like a low gear and wants to die when trying to take off so pretty much all the gears are all mixed up and apparently neutral is now a forward gear??

idk wtf he did but this has never happened before and he said he drove it normal and didn't do a dam thing to #### it up...

I checked the shift linkage under the hood all bushing are in properly and seem to be working and the shift linkage under the dash is all connected and looks to be operating fine.

Sounds like broken shift fork. You need to pull your transmission and get it repaired.

How does something like that even happen? he says he drove it easy...

he said 3rd gear was hard to get in for him but i never had any troubles with my tranny before so could trying to jam it into 3rd have broke it?

Yes! Jamming it into a "gear" will break it. I think if you pulled your transmission and cracked it open you would see the problem. Have you tried shifting it directly at the transmission. Disconnect the shift linkage and see if you can get the gears to line up.

Ok so only 3r-4th gear are the only gears that will actually move the car

all the other gears kill the car when trying to take off and when in neutral it wants to move forward also...

my brother said it grinded into 3rd gear and thats when the problems started??

you have a broken 3rd 4th shift fork.

dang so i have to pull the tranny? minus well order a new clutch and pressure plate then....

Also if 3rd-4th gear shift fork is broken how come those are the only 2 gears that work?

You are stuck either in 3rd or 4th currently, the lower portion of the fork broke off, and is only selecting 3/4, but actually only engaging in one gear because it cannot shift into the other. Therefore, the slider is still engaging that gear and you are trying to engage a different gear (1/2/5/R) and it will lock the shafts.

Take off the transmission. You have a $30 part to replace, a few nonreusables and some labor. Pretty much a $150 job (labor, parts, nonreusables) for a transmission rebuilder to do if you take off the trans yourself, and bring it to someone experienced with DSM transmissions.
