Hi everyone, I need some help with installing an EPROM chip in my ECU.

I have a stock ECU, part number MD169144 (E2T36583 E), and it currently has an E935 EPROM inside. My plan is to use a TL866II programmer to read and back up the original file (.bin) before doing anything else.
After removing the chip, I want to install a socket so I can easily remove and swap EPROMs in the future. I’m looking for a stock 1st gen Mitsubishi Eclipse 4G63 Turbo map (.bin file) so I can flash it onto a new blank 27SF512 EPROM that I purchased.

This is for an NA to Turbo conversion.

Has anyone here done something similar, especially cloning or converting an ECU like this?
I also came across some stock .bin files from (https://tunerpro.net/downloadBinDefs.htm#DSM):

DSM_E931_Stock.xdf
DSMStockE931.bin

The problem is I’m not sure if these are correct/verified stock maps or if they can be trusted.
Also, is there any difference between 1st gen and 2nd gen ECUs besides the map itself?
Visually, the Turbo and NA PCBs look identical, but the EPROM code is different. I’ve attached photos of my ECU for reference.

Are there hardware differences between 1G and 2G ECUs (pinout, sensors, drivers, etc.), or is it mainly just the software/tune that separates them?

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.

There are a handful of differences between a NA and a Turbo ECU starting with the knock board (which your ECU has), snubber circuit for the injector drivers, missing solenoid driver IC, and then it gets more involved and I don't have the specifics anymore. What I remember is there are some changes to how the PCB is configured due to changes to the pinout. You'll have to look very closely at that side of the two circuit boards.

1G and 2G ECUs are completely different.

I haven't looked at the TunerPro xdf file to say how much is in there (what ECU parameters has been mapped) but I suspect the bin file is a good copy of the E931 image. (16k or often twice in a 32k binary)

One key thing to know is that the way the EPROM is connected on the PCB the image need to be written to the top 16k of whatever PROM you use. The actual code usually starts at 0CEFFH with a jump to the reset code at 0D03EH and the top of memory is a bunch of vectors the CPU uses typically for various types of interrupts.
