1g Driver Side axle/Half Shaft removal

Im trying to drop the oil pan in my car but i cant seem to get the axle out of the tranny/half shaft assembly so i can access the last couple of bolts. Should they both just slide out with a little effort? It seems a lot harder than it should be. I tried prying it out, broke the screwdriver. I tried banging it out with a hammer and a screw driver but it seemed like it wasnt moving. Anyone can help?

Pull the whole axle + intermediate then break them apart after you have them out.

OK and I just looked at my shop manual. Off to take this thing off...
