I just put the 93 AWD GSX up on my lift, on the drivers' side the 1/2 shaft (where it goes into the bearing support that bolts to the block) looks like it's an inch too short, the splines engage but it's obviously the wrong one. It looks new.

Is the 2wd shaft shorter than the AWD?

I see that it's a different part number, I'm wondering if whoever "fixed" it  put in the wrong one.

Thanks

C'mon doesn't anybody know if the AWD shaft is longer than the non AWD?

The FWD drivers side driveshaft is one long shaft from the tranny to the hub. There is no middle bearing and joint on the FWD's.

I'm stumped on your problem, tho. Could it be a 2G part on a 1G? Wherever the shaft came from, it's not right and you should replace it.

The axle can expand and contract, it does this every time you turn or hit bumps. Make sure its locked into the trans and pull it until you can get the axle bolt on there.

To the OP, by the way it sounds, I assume your car is an automatic....

I Know for certian fact on 2g's, an automatic driverside intermediate shaft is LONGER than that of a 5 speed car....

I intalled an automatic shaft on my 5 speed car and the shaft would not bolt to the block due to being too long....Now if you swap things around and my car was an automatic and I installed a 5 speed intermediate shaft it would now be too short....

Hope this might clear some things up....Again this is under the asumption that the 1g shaft assemblies are similar to that of 2g's with auto's being longer and manuel being shorter....
