Ok... I really need help!
Noone ever replied in my earlier post... so I thought I may have posted in the wrong section.

I need to know what code scanners are available for my car.
I don't want to own one or order a bunch of parts off e-bay to create one, I just want to rent one (if available).

The P.O.S....
1990 Plymouth Laser
2.0l non-turbo
auto
built 6/90

I am having a problem that I believe is sensor related & would like to isolate the problem before I go through the trouble of replacing anything unnecessary.

Vatozone said no scanner exists on the planet for my application.

Murrays has an Actron Super AutoScanner CP9145, but the special Chrysler plug they supplied (which cost me extra) didn't fit.
The plug was blue with 6 terminals & was stamped "LH".

Last question... now don't laugh
Is the diagnostic link the black covered plug attached to the fuse panel, on the drivers side of the passenger compartment?

I would really appreciate it if anyone can help.

they said no scanners exist for it? bull. i use a snap on scanner at my vo tech just fine on my 92. if i remember correctly, autozone uses the same exact scanner as ours, so if ya go to an autozone, they will scan your car free of charge. but it requires the hyund-2 connector at the end of it, and that has to be specially ordered, so they may possibly not have that.

Thanks for the replies...

Poopy... I read the article, but it did not say whether or not there were any beginning or end pulses, so do I hook up this buzzer, turn key to on & just start counting?

mysticfire6602... "they said no scanners exist for it? bull..." Well it was some fat chick that insisted that you turn the key on/off/on/off/on/off after I made the mistake of saying it was a "Plymouth".
I'll see if they have that equipment & repost what happens next!

Thanks

She's half right. On/off/on/off/on (key dance) only works for the 2g (95-99) NT dsm's which have the chrysler 420A - not the 1g's (90-94) which don't have chrysler engines.

Yep, hook the buzzer up and if there are codes they will start beeping out and repeat after a long pause. Like the VFAQ says the the tens digits are longer pulses than the units pulses and there are pauses in between each code and shorter pauses between digits.
If the ECU has no codes you get a on off repeating heartbeat and if the ECU is dead you get either a continuous on or nothing.

Thanks steve...
I'll repost with my findings as long as noone here wants to hang me because I made a sarcastic remark out of frustration.

Thanks again...
