1g check engine light!

Okay so i just put in a new o2 sensor in and my check engine light comes on. could that be because of a boost leak? (i know i have one for a fact) but it just started a couple days ago and ive had the boost leak since i put on my front mount. could the best leak gotten worse?

You should go scan the car first and come back with a trouble code. Fix the boost leak. I dont think the boost leak is related to your CEL tho.

It could be more or less anything, including the new O2 sensor. You really need to read the fault code to see what ECU thinks the problem is.

The 1g will use OBD I. OBDII came out in 95 I believe.

Finding a place that will have a OBD I scanner will be hard for free. Places like Autozone only have OBD II.

And just so you know some of the 95's came with obd1 cause they were built in 94..

Get the code checked, and possibly cleared and see if it comes back on..Or replace the part that it says is bad, then clear the code..

Awww damn I got a snap on scan tool so it just comes with both. OBD II was required in 96 and after.

If you want you can clear the codes but removing the pos. cable and touch it to the neg cable. That wil remove all codes. Put the cable back on start the car let it run for a couple of mins. if the the code comes back it is a hard code. If you used a bosch o/2 sensor the has to be spliced together, those are junk.

Resetting the ECU could be a good idea.

Now what you can do that is easy is go to Radio Shack and get a mini 12 volt micro buzzer like this.

Finally add two female thin spade connectors to the end and then plug the buzzer into the correct pins and your are done. It will hang there making it easy to sit in the car and listen, count and figure out what is going on.
