I'm hoping to replace all 3 caps tomarrow is ups shows up. Any ideas on how to clean up tha acid that the caps leaked? I used a dry Q-Tip and did the best that I could. Any solvents safe on the board?

Make sure while you are working on the board it is placed on something rubber and you are on something rubber. This will ground you out and reduce the rist of static.

I have been doing some research on this as well.

But, it seems to me like there's a couple of steps missing from most of the write-ups/how to's. If the board has any capacitor electrolitic spooge/goo/leakage on it, it seems like a receipe for troubles further down the road. That acid will travel some distance from where the caps are mounted, corroding all the traces along the way, long after the leaking caps have been kicked to the curb, and new ones installed.

Is there an accepted technique for neutralizing the acidic residue/dealing with this issue?

Please post your ancient secrets, etc...I'm sure there's other people who are tired of this pattern failure, and want to fix this the right way the first time...themselves

Any pointers/links to websites are welcome. :thumb:
