I know that this has been covered before and I have searched and read the other threads on crushing or doing the dodge garage mod. Although as I read through them I get more opinions then what is best for my setup. So I would like to ask a few questions. I am looking to get a uncrushed bov at the moment just so I can start new

I am running a big16g and pushing 17-19psi

My question is though...should I crush it and do the mod..or just do one or the other?
I would rather have a woosh sound then an annoying sputter. From what I understand doing the Dodge Garage Mod makes it have more of a woosh? Anyone speak from experience? But then again I will take performance over sounds anyday. I just want to know what would be the best for my car in general. :thumb:

a 1g bov after the garage mod sounds like a cracking whip (if that makes any sense). its really quick. Mine is loud but i have all hard piping and my return tube is like 2 inches so there is no room for it to dampen the sound. Either way it sounds BAD ASS!!! (not ricey)

We have two claims..one that it makes this sound above...another that it wont make any. Which is it

My 1g bov has the dodge garage mod done to it... From my experience it blows off much more quieter with the dodge garage mod done. It wont blow off as often, it wont whistle ( i guess that would be air leaking ) and it doesnt ever flutter; and when it does blow off it sounds like a muffled air sound. Have you ever seen them toys that shoot air at ppl from like 10 feet away ( People used to shoot them at ppl in the mall and act like they didnt )
Well my bov sounds like those things LOL, if you know what im talking about, im not good at describing things I dont know the name to or even how it looks anymore.
When i have the bov in fast release form ( stock form ) it blows off louder and flutters at low boost and leaks at anything above 17psi... Just be careful with the dg mod because on my 14b it would occassionally cause compressor surge at low boost situations.... It doesnt do it on my evo3 16g though... I plan on getting a new recirculated forge bpv btw...!

The question was, with stock boost levels will it be louder. With a FP green, it will sound like a whip cracking, and you probably can't keep the boost below 15-20psi. With a stock turbo @ 10psi, it probably won't be able to break the thing open enough to make a peep.

Yup. 16g is moving more air so it stacks up to be more pressure in the intake tubes and can pop the valve open.

Hmmm so it looks like the DG mod is a good choice whenever I get a new turbo.

Thanks for the help guys. Is there anyway to make the 1G louder?

God I sound like such a ricer! :p

Hard intake pipe and an open element air filter. You could also fab up a hard recirc tube as well, although I've never heard if it made a difference in sound.

I've got both and you can definitely hear it. Hopefully once I get it running I'll be throwing my front mount on there and buying a 50trim. :thumb:

Boost source from the compressor cover or lower intercooler pipe.

Do NOT tee into the BOV line as the center chamber should not see vacuum; do NOT hook the line to the intake pipe as the pre-turbo intake piping does not contain positive pressure.

ok so i will need to tap another nipple into the IC piping it sounds like... correct? then this will only let the bov open when completely off the throttle

No- tee into the line coming from your boost source to your boost controller. Just don't forget to block this line off should you ever disable the quick-release function or you'll overboost.

Ok this makes more sense... does this change the bov sound to a faster pshhhh as well? Mines pretty loud as it is with metal intake pipe

Why would you want to do all the work to make it hold more boost just to hook it back up like stock again?

Stop believing what other sites are telling you- they're wrong. if you want me to personally tell them they're wrong, link the posts here and I'll have no trouble doing so. In fact, I'll enjoy it.

ok so to get the high boost/fast release I plumb it this way and thats the end of it..

HIGH BOOST is not FAST RELEASE. To run high boost you are DISABLING THE QUICK-RELEASE FEATURE, so you leave the bottom nipple disconnected.

If you hook it up as you did in your photo, it will work exactly like a stock valve.
