Is there a way to check if the trans is bad easily outside of the car?
What the thing is I have this trans that came with my car and it looks like it may be a fresh build. Axel plugs, clean pealing paint, new gold bolts holding it together and so on... It spins just fine by hand as far as I can tell.

In order to install new boots the CV joints must be completely disassembled, cleaned, greased, assembled with new boots on, and then special clamps must be put on to hold the boot. It's not worth it IMO since you can get axles for $70 shipped.

Here's a good link for axles:

Discount Auto Parts Online -- PartsGeek.com - Domestic & Import Auto Parts Warehouse

As for making sure the trans work, I'd ask local trans shops if they have any way to bench test the transmission to make sure it's working properly. I can't imagine a simple trans inspection would cost much.
