Ok somewhere i've read that 93-94 AWD front axles are a different size than earlier ones, is this true or only for FWD? I've already searched but nothing has come up explaining this. I ask because I just rebuilt a 93 trans to stick in my 91. The old axles seem to fit but I dunno...

Only FWD have bigger axles splines in 93-94 years, all AWD are the same.

The splines themselves are not bigger. Its the shaft in between the joints that is bigger, and most companies have just superseded the number for the smaller diameter ones with the larger diameter ones. :thumb:

Wrong, the splines that actually go into the trans are larger.

Joe

No. Thats why when you go to a parts company that sells stock replacement axles there is only one number for the drivers side axle and one number for the passenger side axle for all 90-94 FWD cars. That includes the non turbo ones also. :thumb:

For example the old ARI numbers are 40-14010 and 40-14011.
The GSP numbers are NCV51049 and NCV51052.

Yeah and if you have a 93-94 trans and go to AAP to get an axle, it will be the wrong one. Trust me, i have had a 94 GST and got replacements and they were too small, even from Fidanza. I had to get one directly from mitsu.
