1g Auto Using 2g VSS, 2g Long Gear Help Needed, MD746492 Is Too Short

I'm 1G auto trans
Looking for 2g VSS that is the same gear length

I saw a post from a 1g auto saying
MD746492 is the short gear we need.
Well as you can see it's too short for a 1g auto (mine should be 1991 1ga).

I heard there's a 2nd length, longer 2G auto gear that fits.

Please help, I'm so close to driving my Talon atyer the worst year ever since a botched dyno tune that killed the head gasket in Sept and $30k later I'm still not driving it.

If you use a Terratrip or Brantz Japanese gearbox sensor probe, you wouldn't need to change the speedo gear. It would allow you to use the 1g speedo gear to generate the VSS pulse without using the reed switch in 1g stock cluster. Like the one in the link below.

So I can't tell from looking at the one photo , but it might look like there are wires coming off that M22 intermediate bracket that would then wire to the Haltech?

I found a different M22 picture that showed the 3 wires. I'm gonna get it anyways just in case the shop can't mod the 2g gear longer.

With 3 of the 4 Mitsu gears being discontinued I'd say a $70 shipped speedo gear adapter is probably easier in the end, keep your stock 1g cable and gears and just use the M22.

Yes, it has 3 wires, power supply, ground and signal. The installation is simple. Just remove the stock speedometer cable (the one goes to the stock cluster) and screw in the sensor like the cable. And if you still need the stock speedometer, then put back the speedometer cable on the sensor probe. Technically just sandwich the sensor probe. If you don't use the stock speedometer anymore, then no need to put back the speedometer cable.

Ordered the M22, $119 shipped to the USA, needs about 1 week to arrive.

With three of the four 2G VSS gears discontinued (July 2024) it appears as if this Brantz M22 is the safest bet to keeping the factory dash speedo and getting the signal to an aftermarket ECU.

The shop modified the stock 1g gear shaft so I'm on the 2g VSS, me buying the M22 was about 8 hours too late and they already started on it.

It works, Haltech sees the signal, I got a Sheridan connector from JNZ but Joshua said he's got 1 left as of Aug 1st 2024.

I really wanted to keep the 1g gear and dash working but parts available and options is so deep it's hard to keep track in real time.
