I have a 91 talon with the auto trans. Once the trans warms up its like its in neutral. Any ideas on what may cause this?

Does the transmission fluid smell burnt or just terrible?? Is this an issue that just started happening all of a sudden? Have you noticed any cruising speed slippage or something of the likes before this started?

It could be a clogged transmission filter, bad trans pump, a solenoid or passage in the valve body, or something small.

Automatics are very very hard to trouble shoot compared to manual transmissions. Its one of the downfalls really.

Converter is about a month old. New fluid was put in at the same time, fluid looks a little black.

Running low on fluid or starving the clutch packs puts some terrible wear on those clutch packs. Keep a close eye on things (fluid), you may have to have the transmission again soon.
