hello guys
so i swapped a g4cp sonata engine (which was attached to a AT transmission)in my 1g eclipse, since my original 4g63 decided to shit itself,
i installed the engine a few days ago and i'v been having a problem with my starter\flywheel combo,
starter bandix not engaging flywheel (too small)
in my stupidity i didnt check to see if my 7 bolt the starter will engage the flywheel when the motor was out and not attached to the transmission, :(
now the starter bandix wont engage the flywheel (its extending out but i think its too small in diameter???)
i used my 7bolt starter plate, since the starter plate i got with the engine didnt align with the starter bolt holes,
(i guess that the 6 bolt flywheel i got with the engine is smaller in its outer diameter then the 7 bolt) is this correct?
is there a 6 bolt flywheel with the same OD as the 7bolt?
are the 6 bolt and 7 bolt clutch throwout bearings the same?

i measured the OD's of the old 4g63 7 bolt flywheel and its 279mm on the flat side and 282mm on the teeth.
tooth count is 110.
starter bandix size 28.40mm from the the gear tooth tips,

i dont know the 6 bolt flywheel sizes yet since its now installed on the car :(

well i wasn't sure about what i need,
in my country there are no manual versions of the 4g63\g4cp and i need to order everything from the usa, and i want to be sure on what to order,
i didnt removed the transmission yet, but i'm still not sure which flywheel i need, since my measurements are for the 7 bolt flywheel and its 279mm on the flat side and 282mm on the teeth.

i asked act and they said that their 110teeth 6 bolt flywheel measures 11.1 inches 281.94mm but i dont know if its on the teeth or the flat part, still waiting for their answer.

can i use a Evolution VIII or IX flywheel :O ?

ACT's measurements will include the teeth (ring gear). The 106-tooth flywheel is approximately 0.25 inches smaller in diameter than the 110-tooth flywheel. So something like the ACT flywheel would be what you need.

No, they are all 7-bolt flywheels.

thanks alot!
can i use a 7 bolt clutch on a 6bolt?
are the throwout bearings interchangeable on the 6 and 7 bolt?

thanks again!

Neither clutches nor throw-out bearings are 6- or 7-bolt specific.

Logic would suggest that you'll need a turbo clutch kit (disk and pressure plate) if you go with an ACT flywheel. However, the correct pieces for your car / transmission (ONLY FOR F5M31-2-ZPXV) verified by Europe's ASA program are:

Clutch Disk (215mm diameter) - MD771458
Pressure Plate - MD735732
6-bolt Flywheel - MD131802

The ring gear is meant to have 110 teeth. The clutch disk is the same as the USDM '96+ Mirage. The pressure plate is the same as the USDM 1G 2.0L non-turbo cars.
