19th Annual DSM Shootout August 20-21st 2011 Norwalk Ohio

I will be trying to make the trek out with the BOSS car this year. The drive from Tacoma to Ohio should be fun.

Cool we should coordinate something up maybe we can meet up and follow eachother out there.

I just got a talon last week and I'm planning to go to the shootout! I'm down. Located in wilm Delaware

I wish I could make it, but I wouldn't have the finances to go this year. Maybe if something changes between now and then and I get some money to go. That's a lot of gas though plus a hotel? AND food? Maybe ill put some away for next years.

Well it's 6 months away so hopefully that'll be plently of time

Do you guys realize this is the El Paso area sub-forum? That's great that you guys from Michigan and Delaware are planning to go but are you planning on stoping by El Paso Texas on the way there? I'm sure its only couple thousand miles out of your way.

I've been twice before ('04 & '05) and I'll go again, but I can't this year.

I may go this year, as i'm from ohio, and it's a good excuse to visit. I probably would drive my twin turbo stealth though, as it's way better for trips.

Well I won't know for a couple months if I can make it this year, but if I can, you guys from cali will probably be driving right through my town on I-70. So if I can make it, maybe we can all meet up at a gas station or something so you all can fuel up and everything and then I can jump in with you guys for the rest of the trip.

I was really planning on going this year with 2 friends of mine from FL, and yeah its a long drive but it would definitely be tons of fun.

Though, the way gas prices are going, I might have to pass.

Yeah I'm definitely hoping gas comes down because I'm pretty sure that there won't be enough e85 stations on the trip to go solely e85 and doing the math with pump gas at 3.50 a gallon, I would be spending about 600 on fuel alone round trip. Maybe gonna have to have a buddy ride with me and help with gas and a hotel or something.

I'll make a deal with you... For every DSM'r, including yourself, that drives to the SO from SoCal in their DSM I'll buy a round for at the local bar. If you do plan on doing this I suggest you call and make hotel reservations before the end of March, hotels get booked fast for the weekend.

damn Corey stop being a buzz kill i would love to make the trip for several reason, if i can get my car in good running condtion and just make a shake down pass i would be happy. either that of pack an extra transmission . and we would have to change the oil before we leave and then again one we arrived . itwould be one hell of a road trip though!

out here in Cali they are projecting almost $8 a gallon this summer

I am hoping to make it this year. It is 940 miles from fargo to norwalk. If I left here at 8AM I would make it there by midnight.

And just another reason I would hate to live in Cali . We should just get someone that knows how to drive a semi and steal a fuel truck so they could just follow us out there

I planning on going this year if I get my car done. I think there should be a number of people attending from central PA. I think we could get a nice size convoy going.

I've always wondered one thing, why in the hell has nobody ever setup a spring shootout to take place at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix or at least somewhere on the west coast? I think it would get quite a good appearance. Just a thought.

Thankfully I'm in Central IL so I only need to make it roughly 400ish miles. 30mpg on leanburn e85 tune. $2.50/gal. $34 in gas to get to Ohio.

Of course 30mpg won't happen because I've only driven like that for 1 whole tank and it was torture

There was a great amount of thought put into the suspension of a lancer evolution. Yes i am non turbo. Yes my car is slow as a dog. If I had an evo would I take it to a drag strip? NO. That's a a waste of the cars potential. I understand that this website is based off of people making power and going fast in straight lines It just makes me sad at times because dsms can handle extremely well when done right. If people would put the same amount of money into their suspension as they did into their motor we would have a community full of great handling cars.

They have an autox competition also.

As for saying you wouldn't take an Evo to a drag strip, launch a high powered AWD before you decide that.

Okay, well good to know they have an autox competition.

And I don't think launching is half as fun as doing say 60-130 pulls.
