Hi folks. Does anyone have any input on replacement radiators for the 420a engines? I was determined to find an all aluminum radiator with all the original mounting points etc. but now I just need a dependable radiator. Has anyone installed a radiator from your local parts store? Ive looked at a few and they seem to be half as thick as the original or just seem to be made of cheap materials and weak plastic. Also, some say 1 rod, 2 row and some performance ones say 3 row. Any idea what the factory radiator has as far as "rows?" How many rows would be safe for daily driving with no mods? Id like to find an all metal radiator if anyone knows of a good brand. Any input or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

the 420A equipped DSM's radiators can be found in many other Chrysler vehicles as well, such as Sebrings, dodge stratus, dodge neon. you aren't going to see any kind of increased performance or benefit of an aftermarket radiator such as multiple rows without any added need for cooling capabilities. the thermostat is going to control engine temp regardless of how large or increased your cooling capacity is. I am running an aftermarket plastic tank/aluminum core radiator in my vehicle and I have a lot of mods with no cooling issues. a local parts store radiator will more than suffice your vehicles needs.

Like Sk Boost said get yourself a autoparts store rad and if you want maybe put some silicone hoses on it. But even they wont provide much better cooling.

i just replaced mine a couple months ago. i ended up getting a radiator from KOI which i dont think you have those stores near you. one thing i do recommend is stay away from the cheap autozone ones. not sure about everywhere else but here at work we ordered a few for a couple cars that needed radiators. All of them were defected or just poorly made. so bad to the point you could not bolt the fans on.
