1997 Talon

Clearly I'm new to this, but I just picked up a '97 Talon yesterday. How do I know what I have? I know it's either a base or esi, and I'm assuming the motor is a 420a. The title just says 1997 Eagle two door. On the net I keep seeing 2a, 2b, 2nt...what does all this mean? I can give toe VIN if it would help. Thanks in advance.

You have a 2g weather it be an a or a b im not sure what year that crosses over. Also nt stands for non turbo.

2gb 07-98 for Talons 97-99 for Eclipse. The reason for the "B" is because they got a facelift.

There was new bumpers and side strakes on the talon and the side skirts were dropped. There is also a different spoiler. The Eclipse got new bumpers and new headlights along with new side skirts.

they also have a different cam angle sensor then finally a different ECU and a choice for black/tan interior for 98/99. I can't think of anything else that is different

This is the second generation (when they were redesigned). Thus the "2g". There are also 1G a/b/nt.

2g N/T stands for Non-Turbo (have the 420A engine).

You probably have a base model. I have a 97 esi its a hatchback. My title says says esi on it

if your still not sure you can call a chrysler or mitsu dealership with vin and they tell you what got.

If you really still can't figure out which engine is in your car based on the decals or whatever else, pop the hood and look at the engine. This is what a stock 4G63T looks like in a 2g.
