I have a 1996 Eagle Talon Esi and well I am haveing a few problems with it. Every now and then when I start it If i dont keep my food on the gas it dies out. It will aslo die if I let the RPM's get below 1grand. If there is any advice on how to fix that I would love it. I am also having a problem with it getting hot. I add coolent but it just seems to drink it. I have checked for leaks and have yet to find one, I have also checked my Oil and there is nothing going to there.
Now for the advice part. I am gonna slowly put money in to my car and make it look better and perform better. I am looking at exaist and somethings i can do to my block while in in the rebuilding it phase like adding proformance parts directly to the block. What im wanting to know is, Is it even a good Idea to do a 420a transmission change out to make my car manual or is that just crazy talk?

. Look for air bubbles in the coolant as well as hardening of the coolant lines(pressurizing from the headgasket allowing combustion chamber pressure in the cooling system). Look for white smoke out of the exhaust after warm up. Check for hydrocarbons in the coolant (though this all could be good, but you could still have a bad headgasket. That's the tricky part).
I actually have an extra head if you are desperate, but it doesn't have any cams or anything in it, just the head
