1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX

This is my 95 GSX, not too bad for a high mileage car.Bone stock when bought, 2nd registered owner.

Pumped to announce that I have now received all my goodies back from the machine shop.

Got the head cleaned, leak tested, resurfaced and polished. Crank was also cleaned and polished.

Finally the block was cleaned, leak tested and resurfaced. I was hoping to just get away with some honing but there was some gouging on one of the cylinders which led me to have it bored out .20 over.

Now the next step will be to prep the block for paint before I send it to get reassembled.

I am going with a satin black finish. I have many years of experience painting cars however, this will be my first time painting an engine.

I will be using the primer, paint and clear from VHT.

I am currently using brass brush attachments for the drill but this is proving to be pretty time consuming.

I was wondering if there’s any other ways to speed up this process?

I’m debating using aircraft stripper followed with laquer thinner to neutralize but I hear that this may cause some rusting on the areas where it was resurfaced?

(Picture for reference, these are my results after 30 mins with the brass brush drill attachments)

With all that said I’m just glad to be so much closer to getting my dsm back on the road. I am going on 3 years since I last drove it and I just can’t wait to get back behind the wheel.

@miliman13 yes i forgot to mention that, i already have a set of wire brushes and thread chasers to get those areas cleaned as well.

Any pointers or things to look out when stripping paint from the block?
