Hello,
Im new on here, no where near new to DSM's though. I boosted my first 420a in 2003, and now have 2 of them as well as a third donor parts car. I also have a DD 1991 4g63T. I need help understanding something I read on here, but cannot seem to find now.
Ive read the threads about my 1995 ECU and didn't find an answer. Before I was a member I had read a build thread and someone mentioned that the early 1995 ECU didn't need a FCD/ML. Something about not needing to monitor the voltage on the MAP sensor. Can someone please ellaborate for me. I have always ran a FCD, but I had to replace it once and in between the replacement I still drove the car. Didnt ever hit fuel cut either. Is this why?

If it helps my Man. Date is 12/1994, but the car is a 1995 ESI.

Thanks for any help.

Hmmmm. So how would I test this theory without subjecting myself to fuel cut???

Fuel cut is no good. Last time that happened was in my 1998 GS, and I thought my face was going through the windshield. It was terrible...

It's not a theory, 95's just don't require FCD's. Everything about their ECU's is different from the other model years. The firmware is different, the hardware is different, the whole ECU is different.

Is there any other great and wonderful things that my 95 ecu does that I might not be aware of? To my knowledge there is no tuning ability to it. Am I wrong? If so could you refer me to a link, thread or some other sort of reading material?

Thanks a million in advance!!

Well there is the possibility that the solder in the ECU could delaminate and ruin it. Other than that there's not much else. Like the other years there's not any tuning ability, but 95's don't react badly to some things, like boost.
