Hey whats up everyone, well im curious on a few things i have a 1993 talon es pretty much stock but has full exhaust according to previous owner and headers and has weapon r intake and very expensive plugs forgot what there called and wires. Ok well as i was reading up on the talon i see my model car has 140hp stock is that correct? 2.0 16 valve. i want to get this car faster but im a little stomped on what to do. right now i want to stay n/a. I am doing some weight reduction considering i have these massive subs LOL and some other misc stuff i wanna take out. But i dont no what mods to do. Evantually i want to get cams and aem adjustable cam gears but right now dont got that money. So whats some ideas ive searched and searched i dont realy know what to go for.

es has like 135 hp stock. To up your horsepower go get a cold air intake, injectors, fuel rail, coil packs but i wouldnt recommend it, They even make tuners to plug up to your car to get 15 extra horsepower, take off your cat, zoom clutch so you can bark tires with ease.

I'm new here too, so welcome. I can tell you that the N/T cars made 135 hp stock. Course that's when they were new. These cars are pushing 20 years and its likely a lot of the internals are worn.
It's impossible to say what kind of torque and hp your car is making without actually hooking it up to a dynamometer.

Like I said I'm new to this forum, but not to cars. I've had a 323 GTX and an MR2. Both were turbocharged and worlds faster than my Laser. The N/A DSMs are quick, but no where near the turbo variants when it comes to speed.
I think a lot of ppl will agree when I say its best to save your money for a turbo model where you'll have the already fast platform to build on.

IMHO the N/A DSMs aren't worth the time and money to soup up. Of course it is your car.

Go to the local store and buy one of the orange signs that says "for sale," and sell it. buy you a turbo one. then invest money.

investing money with your current situation will not bring you any pleasure, and you will think that you notice the difference, but you won't. so you can go out and blow all types of money being NA or you can buy a boosted car.

To make more power you want to make your car run leaner. Which means intake and exhaust. If you get a fuel rail and injectors that will make your car run richer will will equal less power. The reason turbo guys upgrade their fuel systems is so that they can turn up the boost without getting too lean.

Also I think 97gst is thinking about a 420A when he says coil packs. The 1g N/T has a 4G63 and the same coil pack as its turbocharged brother. The coil pack will support over 500 hp so don't waste any money replacing it.

I had a 1g n/t for over 5 years. I threw a ton of performance parts on it and in the end it was fastest with just a 2.5 cat-back exhaust system, k&n filter and new NGK plugs and wires. I ran a 16.1 in the quarter mile. Headers made my car louder without making it any faster (which got old).

Finally I just did a full turbo swap (turbo engine, ECU, harness, transmission) which is covered in my blog if you want to see what it involves. I know you don't want to hear that you need to buy a turbo car or do an engine swap or rebuild your internals, but if you want performance, it is the best, and cheapest way to go and I speak from first hand experience. My advice, enjoy the reliability from your N/T DSM and save your money for a turbo one if you ever want to go fast.

Hope this helps!

You could try to go through the hassle of making it turbo but the money would be much better spent actually buying a turbo model then putting parts on that.

If you want to run NA and you have done all of the bolt on parts then I would suggest doing the ECU thing as previously suggested.

There isn't much more you can do for power that isn't already done but you can of course build up the internals of the motor which will be expensive and time consuming plus the motor in there isn't really worth the money since you will likely be vastly disappointed in the performance your hundreds of dollars got you and then you will want to turbo it which will also probably be a let down and a waste of money.

Really we know what we are talking about if you want to go fast a NT is a waste of time and the only guys who do it only do it to say they have... the few who don't do it like that have more money than brains.

Yea i figured that i would get this response LOL. I bought the car for 1400 im probly just gonna Sell the subs and intake as parts then sell car for the same amount i bought it for maybe ill get everyting for 1800 ### subs are expensive. Then buy tsi very hard to find in this area thanks guys ill let you no what happens im leaving in december for marines but for the time being i want to have fun LOL

Would a 14b turbo setup work with stock internals on my car? i dont want to push to much boost would it handel around 10 psi?

Hey if I do a 2.5 full exhaust on my non turbo talon should I take the cat off I don't have to do emissions. I already have a header. And also can I put a turbo setup on my motor. I
Know that the computer and injectors and everything sleek have to get. But will my motor work is the block different than the tsi. Thanks jake

I have to agree with anyone here, it ###### isnt the cheapest option, but to each his own. I plan on doing the same thing with my car, i have a 93 Laser RS NT with only 46k on the clock. My car is at stock compression. I have done alot of research into this and can possibly help out and not just shoot you down. Start by raising compression, my goal is 10.5 to 1, then im going to install a stock turbo intake cam. My thoughts behind this plan is based off of the specs for a 94 Talon es se, not a very common car but that and 300cc injectors was the only difference. Those motors were rated at 175 from factory. So intake, exhaust, and BSE i feel you could see upwards of 200hp at the crank. I dont feel that to be unreasonable for a NT. and to help that the NTs have better gearing for acceleration to assist with the lack of power. i feel it would make a fun dd.
