1990 Trans in a 1995 awd?

Just curious if all I would need to make this work is some custom mounts and to make sure I had the matching 22 spline Tcase? Thanks for any info and help!

From what I have always been told...some how you can only use a 2g in a 1g and not a 1g tranny in a 2nd gen for some reason I dont know exactly why you cant but thats what I have been told. Therefore I never tried!!!

The 2g the front and rear motor mounts are on the transmission, the 1g the motor mounts are on the motor. Therefore you could bolt it up but you would only have the two side motor mounts holding your trans and motor.

You can use the internals but you have to use the 95 bellhousing because the mounts go to it. 2G's have 1 mount on the engine and 3 on the tranny; 1G's have 3 on the engine and 1 on the tranny.

I used '90 internals in a 2G tranny for my car for a while without issues. One thing to watch out for is 90's had crappy organic syncros instead of solid brass, so you'll want to replace them or you won't have a very good shift.

Like mentioned above it can be done with modification....but it would be more logical to just find a 2g tranny. Anything can be done though my old 1g awd had a 7bolt from and EVO3 installed

As of right now I'm running a 1g trans with my old 2g bellhousing with a little custom mounting but I hear the 90's are built a bit differently from the 91.5 and up transmissions. I'll just have to drive and take a look at this guys and see if I can make it work. Thanks for the help guys!
