Hello,

I'm currently switching my 1993 Talon with a 6 bolt and a transmission from a 1990.

Is there anything that I need to take from the 1990 to fit my 93?

Someone told me that I need to get the output shaft off the 90 to work with my car?

Thanks

All you should have to do is switch cables if you are putting the 90 trans and transfer case in your car. The 90 output shaft is a 22 spline so there for you will need a 22 spline transfer case also. The 91 through 94 output shafts are a 23 spline so make sure you have the right transfer case for the right output shaft.

As mentioned the later tranny is stronger. Specifically the 1991-1992 tranny is stronger. It has a much better 3rd and 4th gear/hub/slider. Whic are famous for shreading when plenty of power or a high shock is poured through it. Only better 3rd and 4th is the more "finished" evo 3rd and 4th.

Cheapest route would be to find a '91-up trans and keep your tcase. I found mine on Craigslist for $175 a few months ago. It helps if you're willing to drive some miles to search for it... mine was 400 miles from where I lived. Before you buy it, take off the inspection plate and check for metal shavings and the like.

It's pretty easy to change the output shaft if you get the 90trans as well and you can run your tcase from 91-94
But you'll need to get the 90shift cables and make sure the bracket for the cables is on the 90trans
As said, the 91-92 trannies have the strong 3-4 and are out there if you look around.

How bad is your 2nd grind? Any issues with any other gears?

Is the output shaft the "center shaft" (in the talon haynes manual)? It's just the part that links the transmission to the t-case, right?
