Hey guys the engine in my 1990 Laser went bad. I found one out of a 1993. I was wondering if that would be a direct bolt-in. I heard something about wiring and changes having to be made. Thanks for any info.

A 1993 engine would be a 7 bolt motor and a 90 is a 6 bolt so there are slight changes and it is not 100% bolt in wiring is not worth messing around with though it can be done just try to find a 6 bolt motor.

Or you can try to rebuild your 6 bolt if the block is still good. If you can do it yourself it would be real cheap. A good priced shop should only cost about $1000-$1200 for a short block with used fresh pistons, rods, ect. I payed 1050 for a rebuilt 6-bolt with 2g pistons, 1g big rods.

Hey, where did you get the $1050 rebuilt motor with 2g pistons and 1g rods?
How is it working out so far with the motor?

This is a 1.8L SOHC engine. Its not a 2.0 or a 2.0 Turbo. Are the 1990 and 1993 1.8L the same.

There is a guy in my town that specializes in DSM's. When he started he was working for next to nothing and because of that still has good prices. The motor is great and just from the higher compression the turbo spools way quicker.
