ive been having a problem with my car running on 2 cylinders since yesterday, its cylinders 2 & 3, changed out coil packs, power transistor, cam sensor, checked all my wiring. after i switched my 1990 cas to the newer cas my car is now sparking out of the opposite cylinders, 1&4. shouldnt matter that i have a non turbo coil pack or a non turbo cam sensor should it ? Mitsu parts #'s are identical. ECU is 3 months old.

i wired the cam sensors according to wire color. what else could this wiring problem be ?

The books show two different black wires. One larger than the other.

The 90 harness:

pin 1 (Larger)Black Ground
pin 2 Red +12v Power
pin 3 White TDC (to ECU pin 22)
pin 4 Black Crank Angle (to ECU pin 21)

The 91+ Harness:

pin 1 White TDC (to ECU pin 22)
pin 2 Black Crank Angle (to ECU pin 21)
pin 3 Red +12v Power
pin 4 (Larger)Black Ground

so i checked it and i had it wired correctly, still no start, what else could it be ive done everything ! only other thing i can think of is that the ECM might have gone bad somehow, i just had it rebuilt by a really good computer place in JAN.

Did you check that the TDC signal was pulsing 5v to 0v twice per rev of the CAS shaft and that the Crank Angle signal was pulsing four time per rev?

Since you can pop the CAS out and turn it by hand even a simple multimeter can test it and see the transitions.

no i didnt, ill go check that now and see how that turns out

got the car to run now, still runs on 2 cylinders, tested the ohms on the coil pack and its came out to 10.73 which fall within factory specs, coil pack is good. tested CAS and the voltages & continuity falls within specs also. just got a power transistor from my friends 4g63t mirage. his was running fine, so that power transistor is good. I pulled the ECU out and smelled it, didnt smell like fish. Plus it was just rebuilt.

did try something else though. tested for spark out of each coil.

1&4 would spark, not strong but a weak spark.
2&3 would not fire at all

i switched the wiring on the back of the coils around.

1&4 no fire
2&3 weak spark.

what the ?

also what is that little black looking sensor/box thing coming off the back of the coil, does it need to ground somewhere ? i dont have the coil on the original coil bracket . i have a magnus sheet metal intake manifold.
