Hey guy i just bought a used 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi with 151,xxx miles on it. When i picked up the car it was running 15lbs of boost on a stock motor and stock turbo using a homedepot boost controller. The seller was nice enough to drive the car back to my place for me and that night it was running fine when i drove it. He had the BOV vented to the atmosphere the whole time but when he dropped it off he connected the hose back up to the BOV. Then i felt it was alright if i vented to the atmosphere and then the problems started. The next day i noticed that the car would only make 5-7lbs of boost instead of the 15lbs that it was set at. Also i had to get the car inspected and it failed emissions testing because the hydrocarbons were way to high. So the guy back down my idle so he could test it since it was at 2000rpm. Well anyways i drove the car around more getting used to it and that night at the car wash i noticed that adjusting screw wasn't there. i put a screw in there to cover up the whole and drove like that.

the next day i went out to the car and when i started it with the car in neutral and let go of the clutch the car stalled out. it keeps doing this now and i can't figure out whats going on. could the drastic boost leak cause the car to stall out? even when i give it gas and let out the clutch with the car in reverse it doesn't want to move and it'll stall out. hopefully someone might have some answers because i am clueless.

thank you

Do you still have it vented? Replace that screw with an OEM one. Check for leaks and make sure you didn't blow any hoses off. If you blew a hose off then yes it will cause it to stall.

no i replaced the hose back onto the BOV thinking that was the problem and it didn't change. I got another OEM screw from a friend and put that in with no change to the problem. what hoses would you recommend checking first?

Intercooler hoses. Make sure they are clamped on tight and do a boost leak test.

alright i will try that. i read in the haynes manual you must take off the front right wheel and wheel well cover to get to it? do i really have to remove the wheel or can i just pull back the cover

thanks for the help man
