Hey guys I just picked up a clean clean clean cllllleeeeeeaaaaaaannnnnn 1990 1GA talon AWD shell the other day no motor/tranny. Goin to be swapping Motor/tranny/ecu/interior/ect out of my 1994 Talon awd into the 1990 talon awd. My question is, can somebody help direct me a thread or website that can tell me the modifications i am going to have to make to transfer the 1994 parts using the 1990 harness. also Aren't the 1993+ brakes on the tsi AWD better than the breaks on the 1990 tsi awd? Worth swapping as well? Other than motor/tranny/ecu/interior/brakes is anything else worth swapping from the 1994 to the 1990 both are 100% complete minus 1990 having no motor?

Its probably going to be easier to just swap the engine wiring harness over to the 90 car along with the ECU and guage cluster. If you are using your 94 transmission you will want to swap the shifter assembly and cables over along with it.

The 94 has dual piston front calipers compared to the 90s single piston calipers. So the front brakes are worth swapping over as well.

why not just swap everything from the 94 into the 90, and not worry about it?

are you missing somethings from the 94?

no the 94 is actually my daily driver. just swap the harness as well? how would i wire in the popup headlights? is it a PITA to pull out the harness from the 94?

nah, man, the harness's are cake. the ecu harness is totally different from the fuse box harness. the ecu just has the harness that goes to the engine, since that's all the ecu controls. everything else is wired into the fuse box, and is controlled by relays and fuses, etc.

just pull the ecu, and the three pigtail's on the back of the ecu, follow those through the firewall, and pull that harness.

Ok thanks! doesn't seem too terribly hard to do LOL. and there is a spot on the firewall where everything will be able to be pulled through to the outside engine bay? Then just transfer everything to the 1990 opposite of how i pulled it out?

so the list I have of everything that is going to be pulled off of the 94

motor
transmission
Transfer Case
4 bolt lsd rear
Break rotors/Calipers
Axles
Interior
taillight/rear bumper (conversion if i choose)
ecu
wiring harness
Gauge cluster
shifter cables
shifter assembly

anything else that i am forgetting or would be worthwhile swapping over to the 1990? Just taking all necessary precautions and making a preemptive checklist so i know what I'm getting into LOL

don't worry. just take your time. try to do all the preventive and corrective rust protection while you are there, if the new body has any, take care of it. and it's a lot of work.

been there.

also... the 1990 talon doesn't have abs and my 1994 does, will i run into any kind of issue with that if i swap the 94 harness? Also if i swap the 94 harness what do i do about the pop up headlights?!!!!!?! If i swap in the 94 harness will i have any issue with plugs not matching up (chassis plugs) ???? interior plugs? am i going to have to do any wire splicing?
