I just got the car the guy threw a rod but i have another block with good internals for thet sawp i brand new to doing swaps on dsms just need some good ideas and guidence to build a good reliable car, i want to make around 350hp but reliable cause it will be my every day car just want to have a fast running car to eat up hondas:) already have a stage2 trans and lsd so my drivetrain will take the power i put down

Stock internals are good for what you are trying to obtain with supporting mods. What kind of budget are you on? What parts do you already have via the spare block. Is the block rebuilt?

What about the spare bock? I see you wrote good internals, but what do you mean by this? Is it rebuilt and if so by who? Machine shop, friend and/or random person. First you need to get the block cleaned up and checked out, along with the head pressure tested and may need rebuilt. If you have a reputable machine shop in the area that has knowledge of the 4g63 motor would be best.

the motor wasnt rebuilt just pulled out of a running car good internals as in rods pistons and crank the head on the car now is a brand new zero clearance head maby 300 miles on it before the guy thew the rod

Do you know what the compression numbers were on the good block? Might wanna change the rings and bearings just to be safe.

And make sure you go with a good timing kit. Oem or gates would be my brands of choice.

yea i think im goin to get a rod and piston combo from thedsmgraveyard.com cause higher compresion ratio 8.5:1 and so the rods are a little stronger that stock

I suggest reading vendor reviews before spending any money. DSMTuners: DSMGraveyard Vendor Review

If u are using the 1g rods they have been proven to make well over 450hp. If i recall correctly the kit you are refering to is ghe 2g piston 1g big rod combo in which all 6bolt turbos have the 1g big rods. Someone correct me if im mistaken.

Personally I would just save the money and get a eagle/ross combo (or something similar) Honda's will get boring after a while and V8's start to be more yummy to eat up. You'll want to know you have a solid bottom end that will hold up to the power once you decide to upgrade in the future. Something that I guarantee will happen once you get more $$$ in your pocket. These cars are addicting.

yea but i only have so much money to spend and already i have to pay for another turbo cause when that rod went through the side of the old block its shot metal out and pretty sure riend the turbo anysugestions on a certain type of rods and pistons that are a good deal im going to be running it at .020 over also

Stock 1g stock rods and OEM NPR pistons and a good tune. You can get the NPR pistons .020 over as well. New NPR pistons that come with ACL rod bearings, ACL main bearings, and rings are around $140 shipped. These are what I am currently running and my goal is 450ish awhp.
:hellyeah:

Oh and i have NEVER had a problem with eating up Honda's or even the Z06 corvette's. DSM's mash on em all day long!

Not trying to be a dick here but punctuation would be a plus....

If you go with stock 1g rods in the end see if you can have arp rod bolts put on. I heard they hold up much better then stock bolts but they have to be pressed in I believe prior to install.

Just checking this thread out because I'm about to throw my 91 engine back together.
NPR, I have been doing some reading on them.
So they are good for a stock replacement then? or a little more then stock.
NPR's are cast I assume?
