Langley,
Hey guys, i'm new to this site and to the dsm world. I just went out and purchased a 1990 talon tsi, and I plan on rebuilding it to a little over 300 hp. here are my questions however

1. This car has over 300,000 km's(like 225,000 miles), will there be any necessary parts I will need because of how high mileage it is??

2. I am getting the block bored over .040, and buying a rebuild kit. Can someone reccomend a good quality rebuild kit with .040 oversized pistons??

3. Here is a list of parts I am planning on buying, just wanna know what you all think. Am I going in the right direction>

-Apexi n1 exhaust + downpipe
-Straight 3" air intake pipe + kn filter
-upgrade the side mount intercooler piping with the HKS kit
-DSM link
-Apexi s-afcII air fuel controller
- manual boost controller
- slowboy LSD inserts
- diamand star high-flow manifold
- NGK plugs and wires
- AFC 2600 clutch
- fidanza short shifter
- recirculating bov

are these some good parts??

Anything else I shoud be doing??

timing belt, water pump, everylast gasket in the motor, replace bearings, mains and rods, oil, oil filter, cas, starter, altenator, also for pistons i believe topline makes pistons 40 over, also change all fluids, and then start buying all the stuff that you listed.

besides all the parts mentioned, simple stuff like changing out the spark plugs, wiring, air filter and of course oil, will significantly help the life of you car. i would suggest using royal purple synthetic oil due toyour miles.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but you have both a SAFC and dsm link listed if you plan on running dsm link you shouldnt need to mess with a SAFC.

frist you only go .040 over if the block has to be board that much you start at .020 save material for later rebuilds the apexi exhaust sucks well i mean if you like a bunch of turns in your exhaust megan racing is cheap and good quailty i suggest you do alot more research

Well, im gonna stick with the stock turbo for now. And I am trying to stick to a budget, so a fmic is out of the question for now. There is already a new timing belt, oil pump, fuel pump, and 02 sensor in the car so I don't need to mess around with that stuff. What other kinds of exhausts are out there that are around the same price range??

My budget is pretty much $4000, however I am getting it repainted with this money as well so I am likely gonna be down closer to $3000 for my rebuild/mods.

Should I invest in an air fuel controller with this money??

Make sure to port the turbo, exhaust manifold and oxygen sensor housing if your going to pull the motor out youll have them off anyway. You may want to do a leakdown test and a compression test of each cylindar if you just put a new timing belt on it if the timing belt and oil pump were replaced recently, in my opinion, you might as well run the stocker if it's still kickin.

Don't even bother with an SAFC, if you can afford dsmlink, then the decision should be a no brainer.
