Alright i purchased a 1990 awd turbo talon a while back in bad condition got it running half ass and now today i went to take it for a drive ir was running like ass and on my way home about a block from my house it dies.

So here is an overview of what was going on:
ran pretty good until about 2500 rpms then if you were giving it gas it would bogg down BADD like not move

there is an electronic noise that sounds like two wires have a bad connection coming from the harness in front of the intake manifold. The noise sounds like like tick tictictictic tick tick tictictic

If anybody has any idea on what is going on please let me know.

you do a boost leak test yet? that would explain a loss of power. as far as tyhe clicking do you hear it from in the car or outside. if you can hear it in the car it could be the ecm has leaky caps and your fuel pump no longer is working correctly. just a few things to check.:thumb:

that could be the injectors firing, plug wire shorted, etc. you would have to get more specific as to where its coming from. but sounds like you could have a set of bad wires

It seems like it is not getting fuel but sometimes you can smell raw fuel coming out of the exhaust. The plug wires are firing but they may still be bad idk. also how could i check the ecu for leaking capacitors? If i have another ecu should i try it?

I've had an ECU fail from leaking capacitors that gave the same problems you indicated. There was random clicking from the engine compartment (not in time to what the fuel injectors SHOULD be doing, and not even necessarily coming from the fuel injectors). First the engine ran fine, then there was a very brief period of difficult starts and very bad running, then it would no longer even start, and the clicking from the engine compartment started. I think there was even some clicking inside the car, from the MPI relay. I took the ECU out, and saw a lot of corrosion from leaking capacitors. I had those replaced, and the car started right up and ran good again.

You can pull out your ECU, open the cover, and inspect the area around the capacitors. Usually there is some darkened area on the circuit board, and corrosion around the surrounding components.

Alright i will try to replace the ecu i have another one.

Alright i pulled my ecu out of the car and cracked it open. There was no corrosion but it did smell like bad fish and there was also one chip that looked burnt. The other ecu i got you could see the corrosion so maybe both are bad but the car still wont run. When i looked in the haynes manual it said that if engine rotates but will not start it could be a bad fuel filter or fuel pump or injectors. I have one injector that you can pull the wire out but i don't think that is the problem. Also the car didn't run for a good while so it might be the fuel filter. I also have an extra fuel pump. Should i try to replace it?

Thanks for the help so far.......

I have to say, I still think it is your ECU. I have never seen a completely plugged fuel filter. It won't hurt to replace it, and you can try that, but the bad fish smell is a definite sign that your capacitors have leaked.

Alright i will see if my cousin will let me take his just to see if that is my problem. And another thing i don't think it is the fuel because i can smell raw fuel when trying to start it.

yeah my 90 wouldnt start when i first bought it becasue the caps were bad , replaced that caps and the car ran like a dream, so fix the ecu and do a boost leak test, then go from there once those are done we can help you alot more .... One more thing remember to use a 90 tsi awd ecu , becasue if you use a 91-94 u need to swap some wires to make it work ok ..
