Hey guys,

Would 18 x 9.5 offset +30 wheel fit on a 97 GST with 225/40/18 tires. Please help.

I have the car on coilovers and rolled rear fenders.

I know the setup will be very aggressive, but this is the look I am going for.

They will fit, but get a wider tire than that and run more camber or something. My 255/35/18 almost has a stretched look and the front almost tucks. Rear rubs but the fenders need rolled some more. Btw, mine are +35 offset so you will clear inside for sure. You are just going to be hitting the fender more than me unless you do go with that skinny 225 tire and run more camber (I wouldn't recommend the skinnier tire)

Did you have any clearance problems inside of the wheel well with your wheel and tire combo?

I did on the rear with the 2ga spindles so I used 3mm spacers but with 2gb spindles you should be good. Wheels are 18x9.5 +35 and 255/35/18 tires. Honestly if you can get that wheels in a +35 you will have perfect fitment in my opinion without having to run a skinny tire

I run a 265/30/19 on a Volk Gt-7 that's 10.5" wide +35 offset with a 10mm spacer. rolled, and stretched in the rear. wheels have about an 1"-1.5" of poke before the pull.

How are you getting away with +25mm offset? And how much room do you have between the tire and the suspension components? What's you're camber set at?

I plan on running a 275 or 285 on a 10.5" rim in the spring with a 10.5" wide rim. I figured I'd need something like +12 or +15. I'd be keeping the camber near -1.3° in the rear and -2.3° in the front.

Now this I will look forward to see. Will you be making flares or anything?

I'm currently looking into 280z flares. I'm trying to find plastic ones since I'll be painting them black anyway and I'd rather not have them crack when I hit a cone. I have some drift friends who said we could probably "massage" the stock fenders out of the way in the mean time if I don't find flares I like by spring.

My calculations say that they'll stick out 2.25" further than my 17x8" +38mm wheels with the 245/40/17 Star Specs. I think I used a 275/35/18 Hoosier A6 for the rough calcs.

Very very interested if you end up finding some flares that look decent and work with a little modification. Heck even if you don't I will be interested in what your drift friends do to your fenders to provide more clearance without screwing up the paint.

The paint would be screwed up. It already is. We cracked it when we rolled it for my last set of wheels. The car needs all new front body panels already. I'll probably repaint the whole car once I get the wheels/flares sorted out. I want to put 2ga skirts on it, but that's another story.

It's going to be a look that some people will really like, while others will hate it. I've searched and searched, and photos of 2g's with flares are hard to find. None were the bolt on type. I like that rougher look. ETA May/June 2012.

No clue what I'd do for winter rims after that. The 95 Talon swirlies I use (16x6" +46mm w/ 205/60/16 tires) would just look silly sunk in almost 3.5" I'd need a -15mm offset to make a 6" rim look right.

my mistake, fronts are +35 19 x 8.5", rears are +27 19 x 10.5"

rear tires have an O.D. of 25.5" stock O.D is 25.8" I actually clear the suspension quite easily. the fender....that was a bear, we actually "pie-cut" the inner lip, and pulled the body 1.5", then finished it with a roller before re-welding.

I was actually considering grafting a section from another car with a factory flare to the rear, and front fender, say like a M3, but i want to keep as much metal as possible, while keeping the "organic" lines of the eclipse. I guess it's easier to explain if you looked into my head:aha:

I understand both methods completely. We pie cut my buddy's 240 to pull the fenders out. And I have no measurements, but I thought about the possibility of cutting the flares off a Dodge Omni (Plymouth Horizon) to weld on.

But I still think flares for a 280z/AE86/240sx would work out better.

Those are some pretty hefty flares, i was thinking the M3 due to the radius-ed lip.

the Fronts are pretty flush with the fender, so not much of a flare is required, the rear prior to the pull wasn't bad, but I hated seeing the tire when I would look down.
