17 pounds on stock turbo?

Hey guys i just tuned my car with the stock turbo in it and i got 17 pounds of boost with 0 knock! Dynod at 180 horsepower and 206 pounds of torque!!!! i should be safe with 17 pounds right, do not want anything to blow. upgrades are in the profile except back to stock turbo and manifold and stock injectors.

No I wouldn't *recommend* running any turbo that far to the right of the compressor map. I recommend properly sizing your turbo for your goal. If there was enough turbine flow and energy the turbine could extract from the exhaust, you can clearly see on the compressor map enough compressor flow to match that. This is why you need a logger even for a stock setup. You need to know where you are on the compressor map; you need to know your airflow and boost.

The haynes manual talks about the wastegate opening up on the exhaust side to limit boost. That has nothing to do with efficiency. Now, I CAN see the wastegate blowing open, even when the signal from the boost controller is set to keep it shut. This would be because the hotside has to develope much back pressure to have the energy to keep the compressor spinnign at a proper rpm for the desired flow.
