This is the number that signifies what variant it is.

47=Evo3 as Black95awd stated
52=Small
42=Big

I'm going off memory, someone correct me if I'm mistaken; I usually get the big and small mixed up.

thanks for the quick response...how good is the evo 3 compared to the small or big 16g? i checked the thing out before i purchased it and the fins look good(cot chipped) there is a little play side to side...and barely anything front to back ....is there anything else i should check out or do before putting it on my 2g?

the evo 3 is better then the big and small, but not alot better then the big

i still have my stock intercooler, stock fuel pump, injectors, i do have a greddy type bov k/n filter with metal piping to the turbo... would i need to buy the 2g kit to install this, and purchase a fmic with a walbro 195 or 255 for it to run better? or can i stick with the smic for now...thanks

You'll need a 2g install kit to put the turbo on. You can stick with the SMIC depending on your boost levels, I would suggest a FMIC anyway and also a bigger fuel pump if you will be raising the boost.

what fuel pump do u guys recomend? I honestly dont think I'm going bigger on the tubo for a while. I really just wanted a 16g in my 2g and I dont want my mpg to go down the drain.

The 190 pump should do just fine for your goals, you don't seem like you want to run that much boost, but a 255 is always good insurance but you'll need an Aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator, AFPR, so it pretty much depends on how much boost you want to run.

This is not completely true, there is one thing that you need to buy and two things you will need to do.

First: buy an SS oil feed line like this eBay Motors: Stainless Turbo Oil Feed Line for 2G DSM 16G Eclipse (item 180214958832 end time May-11-08 07:02:53 PDT)

Second: Even if you have a first gen oil drain line USE THE 2G! It won't rust out like the 1gs do. All you need to do is find a drill and make the holes farther apart, the line is aluminum so this is very easily done.

Third: If you have the a 1g J-pipe you can still stretch the rubber line to make it from the turbo to the intercooler. I'll be pretty be pretty tight so two people is a must. If you don't have the j-pipe you could either buy a 1g or something like this eBay Motors: DSM 16g 14b Turbo J Pipe Eclipse Talon 90-99 1g 2g SS (item 350056137695 end time May-09-08 19:50:37 PDT) which might actually be worth it if you can get one cheap enough...

As a general rule, 15psi is about the highest you'll ever want to take the stock intercooler and fuel system. If you want to get the full potential of the Evo 3 than you are going to have to get a bigger intercooler, fuel pump (evo 8 and 9 are good cheap alternatives that flow about 190lph), injectors (evo 8 and 9 work here too), and something to control the injectors.

Happy boosting :thumb:

i just purchased a fmic off ebay, i also got a j pipe from some dsmr with the oil drain line and stanless steal oil line to the oil filter( but its missing the L fitting)=== if anyone knows what its called so i can purchase one.. in the ebay link u can see the L ...so i guess i just need some gaskets... he is also selling a evo 3 manifold, is it worth to buy and put on my 2g? mine has a couple cracks

I hate to tell you this, but that is 90* fitting is going to be a pain to find. You could try going to a parts stuff, heck maybe even home depute... chances are, you'll have to order it in. If its anything like my fitting it will have whatever thread mitsu uses on one end and AN threading on the other. Good luck though!

thanks, im going to check homedepot in a few...yeah i hope the mitsubishi thread i can find...i'll let u guys know

Do u guys think i should purchase a evo 3 manifold? i have the stock one but its showing some cracks...or should i just leave it like it is?

The Evo III manifold is good, but a ported 2g manifold will do just about as good. It's really your call, you could also upgrade your manifold here too, I would suggest a cast one over a tubular due to lower prices and cast are less prone to cracking.

I agree. If I was to the point of upgrading the 2g manifold I would jump straight to the FP though.
