16g just installed - =(

I recently bought a big 16g from a local dsmer for cheap. When i removed the turbo from his car , i found quite a few big cracks in the exhaust housing.Its been ported to the max, and its a 7cm housing. I had a 14b housing on hand which is 6cm so i swapped the exhaust housings and installed it on my 2g. Im not impressed at all with this new setup , and this is coming from a stock t25 turbo on the car. Is the 14b exhaust housing killing me that much? Running it 17psi , car has aem uego,safc2 tuned. Whats going on , i thought it was supposed to be a night and day differnce after this install? Have no boost leaks , or anything, everything is good, only thing i can think is that its the 14b exhaust housing.Any ideas or is this it?

You are running out of injector and way over working your pump. You may not see anything one the wide band but the newest of members would know stock pump and injectors is a no no.

Here this is the problem u got a flow rating of like 400 or so an a turbo that tring to pull 500 in it. Thats like trying to suck a golf pall there a garden hose it's not going to work.

Here is a chart that is good to go by. Road Race Engineering's Eclipse Fuel Delivery Upgrades Your inj are probably near 100% duty cycle. It looks like the pump is a problem right from the get-go.

Installed the 255 and the 560's and 1g bov , & a hacked 2g MAF, retuned it , and now it runs like a raped ape. Only problem now is with the 1g bov it holds alot more boost ,and im only running off the wastegate acuator and it boosts up 22psi. Is there a way to turn the boost down , since my boost controller isnt even doing anything its turned the lowest it can go???

Sounds like your boost controller has gone outta wack, try eliminating it all together and go directly from you j pipe to your WG actuator to see what it does.

Actuator alone shouldn't allow you to crest 20's of boost. You should be sitting at, like, 12psi.

Be sure you're winding the MBC out to achieve a lower boost setting....if you wind it all the way in no boost will make it to the actuator at all, leaving the flapper to open only from the excessive pressure inside the turbine housing.

It could also be a symptom of boost creep if the actuator is opening normally and the boost just keeps going up.

Is it creeping up to 22 psi? I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I'm about to install my e3 16g this weekend and I plan on porting the wastegate as much as I can.

hate to say it but you should of left the 16g hosuing on there. i bet it was ported to max like you said so it wouldnt creep like that. all the exhaust hsouings crack when i had my 16g it had some cracks in it and was ok. i creep the same way when i had a huge exhaust. i would eaither swap the exhaust housings or take the 14b and port it. or go external gate. the 16g max power is between 20-25. i mean if you have the fuel for it now you could just tune it for 22 psi. with your 560s and pump you should be fine

yea you are running lean and must be knocking, i am on stock fuel system, big16g stock injectors. and in 3rd gear at 6500rpms i am at 107% IDC(DSMlink) tomorrow im putting in 650's fuelpump and rewire

and i am knocking on stock boost control, i hit 13psi MAX. your motor will blow if you keep that up

Car runs great , just that id like to turn the boost down just to ensure i dont blow my headgasket, since my motor is bonestock. I will eventually get arp headstuds and triple layer headgasket, but until then how much boost can the stock headgasket take?

My buddy's stock 2G 7-bolt w/ 137k on it is seeing 25psi dropping to (and holding) 22psi with a Frank 5 20G. The engine is completely stock (aside from cams)- it's never had the head removed. At this point we're honestly thinking the rods will go through the block before the head gasket starts to seep.

Don't use this as a reference, I'm simply stating what we're running without a single issue. Every car is different.....another buddy's stock 1G 6-bolt with 128k began to push coolant into the overflow bottle at around 21psi with a plain TD06H 20G.

I just put a 16g on my new car yesterday. I didnt hook up the mbc I just ran a line from nipple to wastegate actuator. I havent hooked my boost gauge up until tomarrow. So what pressure does the system run from nipple to actuator?

should be around 10-12 if i remeber correctly unless your creeping then who knows. my buddy bought a car with a big 16g on it with no boost gauge. the car pulled like a sob and he swore it was running stock boost. when we hook up a boost gauge it was running 22psi
