Hey guys!

My turbo stock died and I was about to upgrade to a 16g EVO III, I even bought an install kit... but as you guys know, there were the shortages... Is there any other turbo alternative to this one, up to $800? Could be better, even. I'll probably need to get forged internals now...

Lots of alternatives, you just need to decide what your going to use the car for. Also what kind of power do you want to make? You could just get a 14b, since you already got the install kit or go with a small or big 16g. Doesn't have to be an evo3.

If you are looking to grow into your turbo, meaning have a turbo capable of power even if your not ready for it, then I would just go with a Holset. They are cheap and reliable.

Send Jusmx141 a message, he will be able to hook you up with a great deal on a turbo.

Edit: Damnit BUD, you always gotta be first at everything don't you! LOL

So that's your secret! I guess those "my clean pc .com" commercials really were too good to be true. I will make sure to top off the fluid and double check the timing on my hyper boost function valve.

Sorry for the off "topic-ness" but with everyone wanting a 16g and the shortage not making it easy, buying awesome 1/2 price rebuilt ones from Justin is the way too go. I ran one from him and it boosted strong, even threw all the abuse I gave it. Many others on this site can also vouch for him as well.

This. If you can even find a Evo 3 16g, it will be well over $1,000 in price. A big 16g very closely matches the flow of the Evo 3 for a fraction of the price. Hell, even a small 16g is capable of 350hp, just not as "easily" as it's big brothers. So don't get set on one type of turbo, all of the 16g's are great upgrades.

And if you really have the cash to throw towards a spankin new 16g, why not go 68HTA? Roughly the same price and more flow.

The other 16g's are just as expensive as the Evo III (everywhere I see, at least). Also, I wasn't looking it used ones, I've had quite bad luck with rebuilt/refurbished stuff in the past, I don't wanna risk going through it again. Also, it's forbidden to import used auto parts here in Brazil.

Also, my DSM broke down recently. Loud sound, car lost power, 2-3AM in a highway, glad I could make it to my mechanic. He opened the bottom end and the bearings were gone. Well, they were in the oil, although in "powder" form. Now, I know that I'll need new rods and fix the crankshaft, he is right now disassembling the rest to check the damage throuroughtly (spelling?), So I guess my budget will depend on that. :/

Thanks for the link, agentorange313. I'm gonna look into those Holset HX35... any comments on that?

Spools like a 20g and breaks parts like a gt35

LOL, that's bad, huh? ROFL

Also, this fuel pump that FP offers with the DSM turbos is as good as a 255lph Walbro? Does it need an install kit?
