I am running a knock off 16g and i took it for a pull today. I saw my boost skyrocket to 20+ and i let off, i'm not sure it would have hurt anything but, I am running a 255 & 560 injectors. It just spooled and go baby go! My MBC is hooked up as follows: wastegate to the side of the MBC, then directly to the j-pipe is that correct? It is a 4 dollar cheapy off ebay. Are all mbc's the same or what? I tried to see if the wastegate was the culprit so i hooked it up, straight waste gate to j pipe and i got 10 psi i'm confused. I plugged the BCS in and the same results shouldn't it be 12 -13 with the BCS restrictor removed? any help apppreciated:thumb: Sorry for the sluggish english earlier it's been a long day for me.

Edit your post so we can understand what you just wrote. Correct spelling and punctuation.

I almost decided not to even respond with this at all and others will feel the same way too.

Yes, let me translate. He's hitting high boost (20 psi) with his inferior/mis-installed MBC, but a straight vacuum tube from a boost source to the wastegate actuator produces 10 psi, and he's perplexed by the lack of influence the BCS has on boost levels:D.

Intake and exhaust restrictions will have a huge affect on boost, especially if the turbo is an EVO3 16g.

Try unscrewing the mbc knob all the way and see if it helps. If not, try turning the knob the other way. Try it and see what works.

If that doesn't work, swap the hoses. I think you have them hooked up correctly, but your post is not clear. GL

I have my MBC set up shortest route possible this is what happens. I have the MBC set to low boost.

YouTube - Spiking 20+ with my manual boost controller 16g

No ported wastegate, stock 14b o2 housing, and stock exhaust, but when I straight in-line the wastegate to j pipe i get 10-11psi I'm thinking its my cheap MBC.:ohdamn:

No you need that pin hole. Look in the tech section, there is an article on building an MBC. Check that out and see how they work, then play with your mbc and see if you can't figure it out.

They are pretty simple devices. A spring holds a ball in a seat preventing air pressure from reaching the wastegate. When the boost pressure overcomes the spring the wastegate opens and bypasses exhuast gas limiting the boost. The adjuster screw changes the preload on the spring there by changing the pressure required to overcome the spring.

The MBC has a pin hole in the wastegate nipple to release pressure. It was there when I bought it should I plug it i'll get a picture soon

You need to try another boost controller. If you have one of the boost controller below it could be bad. I had one that came with a spring that was too long. It gave me more 10psi on top of my wastegate spring with it backed out all the way.

Pull the boost controller apart and see if the spring is stuck. They get stuck really easy when you screw them down.

dude i had the same exact problem with the same exact MBC, put a turbo xs on it and it was fine....you have a pm

I have the same controller and don't have issues with it. I guarantee if you take the knob out of it you will see that the spring is stuck. Now its not the greatest controller in the world but it does work just fine as long as the spring isn't stuck.

I have it installed just like that it makes no sence that straight line pressure to wastegate, I get 10psi. I hook this cheap MBC up and i spike to 20+ even when the knob is all the way out. The spring isn't stuck in it I have checked. I adjusted my accuator rod too. Thanks for the advice.

Hallman's are expensive so are the turbo XS but they are great boost controllers. I am doing a budget build DD and I don't want to spend 60 bucks on a part that i can make. ya know i thought they were all the same evidently they aren't. I just may have to buy one of those for reliability and accuracy.
