After hours and hours of searching, I’m giving up. I’m thinking about getting rid of the t25 and putting in a 14b for more “umph” if you will. I’m not looking for a monster machine, but more of a “fun” daily driver with “smoggable” capabilities. With my current mods, I’m pushing 12-13 psi.

Ok, now that we got what I want to do out of the way, onto the questions. I’m pushing 12-13 psi with the t25, from what I understand wastegate controls boost right? So I can assume stock wastegate = 12-13 psi on stock t25. So with the 14b I believe stock boost = 8-10 psi with the stock wastegate right? So if I install everything correctly with no leaks or anything, my boost gauge should read 8-10 psi right?

Fuel…ok, I really don’t want to have to upgrade any fuel components especially when 14b is the biggest I’ll go. So reliably can I use the stock fuel system at stock boost? Now as far as turning up the boost, idealistically what’s the highest I can run with the stock fuel system? I will be getting a logger and so pretty much turn up the boost and go off by the log right? Main reason I don’t want to upgrade fuel is because of the threads I read in the forum. With any bigger fuel pump I’ll need a afpr and safc. I’m still new to tuning and don’t have the time yet to learn. Hence, I’m putting off the fuel upgrades till later.

So i understand i haven't done exhaust but has anyone experience this kind of setup before? Pretty much stock everything with just a turbo upgrade? Anyone with any kind of experience along this kind of setup? Please chime in. How do the two turbos compare, 14b @ 8-10 psi versus t25 @ 12-23 psi?

Sorry for the long post, I just figured I’d post one long post than several little ones.

Honestly, if you dont want to tune...I have no idea what you are doing here.

In reality, they say you dont need a AFPR for a walboro 190 lph, but skimping out is not advised by me. If you dont want to risk your car, you could pay for someone else to tune it for you...but theres no reason for any of that. Id atleast rewire the fuel pump.

Without any boost control, yes the wastegate controlls boost, but because it will be hooked up to the stock boost control selenoid which is probably set at 12-13psi then you will run that ammount.

Yes. Stock fuel system could run probably 14-15psi on that turbo. Obviously you have a boost gauge since you know what you're running, so spend 35 dollars and get a MBC to control that boost.

Yes. What threads? If you get a 190lph pump you could run about 16-17psi with no other changes (psi is an estimate of what I'd expect you could run... always check your logger and increase by 1psi each time you go up just to make sure everything is ok!)

The setup you have now should be fine as long as you leave the boost at a stock level. Once you get a different BOV, exhaust, and intake you can turn it up to ~14psi. There should be no problems. Don't forget about an install kit for the 14b. If you are looking for a really fun bolt on for a 2g I'd check out a BIG28 as another good option. Awesome turbo IMO.

I was researching on fuel mods on this site and came across a few threads that individuals recommend using an AFPR even for the 190lph pump. If i recall correctly something about people running rich running the pump without the AFPR. I dunno. I'm trying to look for them now so i can post them but i can't find it. Hmm...maybe it was on dsmtalk.com....i dunno. Intake, bov, and uicp i have...joe p boost controller on the way. I have looked at the FP Big T28...if i were to go that route and pay that kind of money, i'd do it right, fuel, tuning, required mods, pretty much max out the turbo. But being that i'm married, going to school full-time and working full-time, it's not an option for me. Only reason i'm considering the 14b is i'm gettin it for free.

It's not that i don't want to tune, i do. I will learn eventually. However this being my daily driver, i need something that isn't going to sit in the driveway waiting to be fixed if i do something stupid.

Better yet, if you are convinced that you want to go further, follow the DSM tuning guide steps in order. Unless your T25 fails, an upgraded turbo is pretty far down on the list.
