one of my friends has a 14b turbo that i might get from him and i was wondering if i did would i just be able to remove the stock t25 and replace it with the 14b or would i have to buy or do other stuff to it before i can install it?

You need a j-pipe and some other good stuff. They are set up a little different

You gotta try to search a little. Plenty of places sell install kits for that exact install. Get on the classifieds. Right now, today, someone put up an add for the oil and coolant feed lines for $15 bucks. You'll need to port your manifold a little, replace the oil drain with a 1G, etc..., and a few other all small/easy/cheap stuff.

All correct, however, you can get away with the 2G stuff. I'm using the stock lines from the 2G, they just have to be 'maneuvered' a little. But yes, you're absolutely correct if you want to do it nice and clean without chancing breaking something. The kits to do this are simple, cheap, and easy to find. Good info.

ok thanks guys... its just that i bought a new turbo manifold got it out and everything and one the studs that go through the manifold into the turbo broke off in the turbo and i cant get it out ive tried drilling and everything so i dont know what to do besides get a new turbo and its my daily driver and my girlfriend is getting fed up with taking me to work and whatever else we got to do LOL so any advice would be great thanks again guys

wow the list goes on and on LOL

Anyways, try to drill with a smaller drill bit at first with wd40, then move up in size or u can always take it to a machine shop and have them use a Drill Press to take that sucker out. Shouldn't cost that much for drilling something out.

mine itsnt blown his is and i was wondering how hard it would be to take the internals out of mine and put in his housing because i cant get the bolt out of the turbo because it sheered off flush at the turbo i can post a picture if needed

Wait so you want to put T25 internals in a 14b?

no no no sorry for being so confusing my t25 has the broken stud in it my friend has a 14b that he was gonna sell me but i needed to know what i needed to do to make the 14b work and my other friend has a blown t25 and we were thinking of swaping housings because i need my car asap and dont have time to order parts and wait 2 weeks for them in the mail for the 14b

it wouldnt be to hard to do to just swap internals or like it was mentioned before take it to a machine shop and have it drilled out with a drill press itd be cheap to do im sure

I dont get it,

So, you are getting a 14b to replace your stock T25.

but your friend has a blown T25 you want to swap internal parts with yours to get

him a working turbo? Why not just give him yours?? :idontknow:

he wants to swap his t25 "stud stucked" turbo's internals to the blown t25 turbo so he can get his car running so he doesn't have 2 weeks to wait for the install kit of a 14b that another friend has.

and honestly all you need for the 14b to work is bend the coolant lines, get an oil feedline and maybe a return. i think you can use the stock off the t25 with some modification and bolt it up. but if you got that t25, just swap the exhaust housing off the blown t25 to yours. thats where the studs go anyways. that would be a simple easy fix.

i had to bend and modify my 1g lines to fit on my 2g with the 14b i used a new oil feed line fed off the head and 1g oil drain line. otherwise you can use stock L pipe and just rotate the intercooler hose around and itll work

Realize you swapped the housings already, but if the turbo was in good condition, it's really worth while to upgrade unless you never really see yourself upgrading your turbo.

Replaced the T25 on my old GST with a 14b, and it was a lot better. Spent less than 300 bucks for the turbo and all the stuff I needed. Well worth it for me as I didn't have to buy anything special later on when I went to a 16g. The trade off is a very small amount of extra lag for boost that holds longer and obviously more power potential.

yeah i was gonna buy the 14b from my friend anyways he only wants $75 for it and its in good condition but i didnt want to spend the money on that because my plans in the future are a 16g turbo so im just gonna wait but it would be nice to have the 14b power for now for something differnt i might just buy it LOL

like I said, if you plan on a 16g in the future, all the upgrades aside from the cost of the 14b carry over to the 16g, so you'll only be paying for the turbo later on, rather than the turbo, jpipe, oil feed, etc.
