The fins on this 14b look pretty banged up, just wondering if you guys think it's still usable? Thanks!

Time for a new compressor wheel and rebuild it while you're at it.

You think it's more cost-effective to purchase a new compressor wheel & rebuild kit than to just either upgrade to 16g or buy a used 14b in better condition?

Will this 14b work temporarily, or would you highly recommend NOT running with this turbo?

I've seen worse that people have run but vibrations will be caused due to the imbalance and in a matter of time it will fail.
Check out this vid and it should give u an idea of how balanced the turbo needs to be.

Eh if you're rebuilding might as well replace it I probably have 1000 of these wheels somewhere I'd sell ya a new on for $20 shipped. If you're just using it at stock boost levels on a mostly stock car it'll probably last a while. If you plan on beating on it I would run it with that wheel in it.

If that's the case, expect a PM from me on Monday to buy one of the wheels from you. Appreciate your input! :D

Replace during a rebuild; otherwise, run it. I've definitely seen worse that still made boost just fine....Dave's old HX35 was one example. Hell I've had guys send me turbos with every blade mowed off the compressor wheel which still boost perfect with a little noise. LOL

That's an old 14B with an 11mm right-hand thread locknut- no balance grinds; you're safe to swap compressors as this turbo was never VSR-balanced.
