im most likely trading my pretty clean 3000gt for a pretty clean awd laser that's running 12's what should i look forward to in reliabilty i know its not going to be like the 3000 all i hear is bad news about dsm's so im after the truth what problems should i be expecting i do plan on turning the boost down for reliabilty will that really have to be done or will it be ok i think its running about 20lbs
 
You'll probably have a few things go wrong here and there, but from what I hear, fixing a DSM is soooo much easier then working on a 3000GT.

Then again, if you treat it right, it'll treat you right.
 
Any car would not be reliable if yu put it through the torture some people do. The fact that these cars don't take a lot to go fast makes people go harder and harder on them. If you do that your just waiting for problems.

Figure out when the timing belt was last changed, might not hurt to change the oil, fuel filter, plugs and wires, etc.
 
well ive known the owner for about as long as he's owned it and he got raped by the previous owner the car got beat up hes put so much money into fixing the other kids problems so i figure theyre really isnt anything else to break haha hes done the ignition trans drive axles water pump t-belt brakes b16g turbo the list goes on heh but im leaving for school soon and i will need some relibilty i cant expect anycar to last forever but im just wondering what the common prob's are
 
yea traded him my non turb 3000gt for his laser the thing is out very good deal in my opinion my 3000 was clean and very well mantained as i know this car was only problem so far as its day one is the welded diff is going to take some getting used to but other then that im once again a very happy dsm owner :dsm:

Or what are you thinking...youre going from a car that you know has been taken care of, to one that you KNOW has already had problems and is less reliable.

Who knows what else the previous owner messed up on that hasnt shown itself yet.

If you really want reliabilty, by the sounds of it...stick with the 3k
 
the 3k is gone i have the laser kid's had the car gone threw plenty of times so far its running 20lbs w/ 550 injectors and is tuned with a apexi safc everything seems sound except the front left cv axle is ticking and the welded diff feels like im going to break something how hard would it be to replace the welded with a non welded
