12 sec fwd setup...is this enough??

hey guys, i have researched over the past 2-3 months and came up with this setup to go out and get so i can put together a 12 sec car....
before i list the mods i would like to say that i have taken care of all maintenance needs from timing belt to pcv valve...so engine is running well ...and tranny

ok heres the list running on a 14b:

k&n with no air can w/hood scoop to force cold air in over pass. headlight
accel 8mm wires
bpr7es
Dejon Dual stage MBC
exhaust cutout from JCwhitney
2g O2 sensor housing ported
2g manifold ported
2.5 inch downpipe
190 rewire fuel pump
550 CC
IC hard piping 2.5inch mandrel bent
2100 ACT clutch

Safety
VDO boost gauge
afcII
datalogger

ok...i think thats enough to get me into the 12's with those mods and the boost set at 20 psi(is that max for stock SMIC?) on HIGH... i dont think it would heat soak if i use high only sometimes since it will run low boost daily driven... anyhow guys i need advice, so help me out please... thanks
 
12's ? uhmm no
wheel hopping like a mofo all the way down the track.
spinin the $hit out of the tires off the line.
Maybe if you address those items.. ya may see a 12.99999
(unless you can drive the living crap out of this car )
just my .02 i been wrong b4 and will prob bew wrong again.
 
well most of the time you need like slicks or drag tires to run a 12 second in a FWD car. with that aside... errr not even close.

You have NO LSD and no tires

turbo is too small
need a larger I/C
some I/C pipes in general.

Lets put it this way... I am hoping to run 12s in my T3/T4 set up I buy... with a FMIC and all supporting mods. with some race tires.

maybe high 13s for you?

On a 1G AWD with similar mods you listed. With a decent driver cutting consistent 1.7 sixty-foot. On stock 14b, one might run in the range of 13.3-13.5 @ 100-105mph. Now, even on a FWD with slicks, I'm pretty sure you will have a hard time cutting 1.7 sixty-foot without some major suspension works. Just something you can compare to. :thumb:
 
damn...darn it..i thought that would be enough to run high 12's but i guess not without some sort of lsd or sliks...meh so i guess i should forget 12's for now hehe...

what bout the max psi i can run on stock smic,injectors 17psi??
or with 550cc,stock smic, 2.5 inch hard piping...20psi??:confused:
 
On the stock smic and injectors and pump...
I wouldn't test over 18psi on a 1g. But on a 2g probably 16.-17.max.
That's my opinion tho.

And with those mods on a 1g I would hope for high 13's with enough wheel hop to make you feel like you're going to go airborn or either in an earthquake.
 
ok i understand what your saying but what about civics that are turbo'd...do they have problems with wheel hop as well??? what sort of HP would i be looking at Wheel and Crank?? just curious...

The 14b has done 12's. numerous times. Its not THAT much different than a small 16g.

People have also gone fast on the stock IC. Not that big of a deal.

Read how he says that he's got some hardpipes for the IC.

The real killer is that he is a FWD, with no suspension setup, NO lsd, and no good tires. This kills just about everything. I think that if he could hook up, not spin/hop throughout the track, he could have a shot at mid'ish 13's.
 
Suspension is the most important part to 1/4 driving to us FWD'ers. I have 'just' done my suspension (as of tonight!) and I took it for a little *test*. It makes a world of a difference, I promise you this.

Next is a LSD, and not that damn insert POS.
 
ok with your setup you'll need to add a FPR, some good tuning, and lots and lots of practice on your launchs... but here's what I will add if I was shooting for 12's:

-Put your car in the best diet you can get, I mean if you can; at least for the track day strip the hell out of it, (it may not make the best difference but it'll help) this is why civics make it to the 12's, because they're lighter than our cars, about 1000 lbs difference or more
-You'll really need some suspension setup as well, I installed Eibachs Sportlines, AGX adjustables and yes indeed... you can really feel the ride getting better in launch's, I dont have LSD, but I've seen on friends cars that works great too... now slicks its another great improvement, but IMO not necesary some good radials will do a good job
-Practice the hell out of your R/T's and 60ft and you'll get some good times...

for the most part I was referring to FWD cars not the turbo though there does play a role in it... there are like a handful of people who have run 12s with a 14b w/ FWD... from what I noticed they are mostly from shops and prob have a hella lot more mods than him.

12 second AWD 14b yes. 12 second FWD on a 14b I think not, especially on his set up... actually I will say nowhere near.
 
damn.....my hopes of 12's are fading on a 14b....that suks :(
guys i wish i had the money to get an LSD i would but i have to do so many other things as well....

oh by the way i forgot to add the suspension part since everyone is mentioning it...i will get apex or h&r springs with kyb agx's
a strut bar in front and rear if that helps as well...

maybe i should invest in a FMIC so i can up the boost more ...:confused:
 
well you need a fuel system to boost more and an IC to help flow... But anyways...

I answered for the suspension... also consider the Tiens, I have them and love them and it would be cheaper than the Apex world sport

Point taken. I was assuming you were talking about AWD's as well.

Agreed, though. Nowhere near on his FWD setup.
 
Ouch, yeah nowhere near 12s. Low 14s.

You need:

Upgraded SMIC or FMIC
650cc+ injectors
SAFC
Nitto drag radials
BM LSD insert
Race gas
Boost at 22psi
1.8 60ft. time

Then cut a 12.99
