For what ever reason tonight i found out i have a 1.6L head on my engine as it sits on the engine stand. I have a 2.3L and ran it last season with no issues. (made 450hp) i have a decent amout of money invested in this head so would like to just stick with it but i have a few concerns. i have 1mm larger valves and its 8.8:1 compression(around 9.3:1 with 1.6L head)

Will i run into issues when i upgrade my cam shafts from Crower 272 to Kelford 272 or 280?

It is evident that the exhaust ports are smaller then a 1g head is it possible i could out flow them with a hp goal of 550-600hp? intake ports are the same as 1g.

Anyone running a similar set up that can give me some feed back?

Would love to hear if anyone is running kelford 272s with 1mm bigger valves in a stroker with this head.

If the intake ports are the same as the 1G, it's a 1.8 head. I have a 4G61T on a stand here, and the intakes are more like the 2G. My spare 1.8 head is the same as a 1G.

I don't think you'll have any issues.

Hyundai used a 1.6 and a 1.8 DOHC back in the day, they look like a 4g63

I have the 1.6l with the 1g runners, and a 1.8 with the 2g runners...

It says 1.6L on both sides of the head. With some searching on here I seen some that the 1.6l head has thinner casting. So I'm affraid to port the exhaust side to much. The ports are more oval on the exhaust side. Boostin performance ported the head as far as I know they never mentioned it was a 1.6l head. The intake side looks great though. It has 1mm bigger valves and right now it has BC springs and retainers but would like to upgrade cams if even possible. I have wisco 8.8:1 stroker pistons and oversized valves does anyone think I will run into valve clearance issues with Kelford 11mm lift cams?

I currently am running crower 272's with no issues but they have a 10mm lift I believe.

If you lay that Exh gasket on any 2.0 4g head, you will have that much metal left inside the gasket.

How dose the gasket match up on the exh mani?

Also if you move to the big kelfords, you will need to upgrade the spring package, Behive or a good set of duals.

My exhaust manifold is being made right now but I thing the gasket matched good to my old hafe manifold. I plan on upgrading springs looking at kiggly bee hives.

Here is some pictures of the casting in the side of the head.

Is anyone running Kelford 272's or a cam with 11mm lift with 1.6L head?
