Hey guys,

Recently my timing skipped and f***ed up my head and cracked a piston. I have a new head already. I am looking at sending my motor up to Strictly Performance Motorsports in Michigan for a 2.3 stroker build. Looking for a little bit of advice as to what else I should do. I already have a 16g turbo and front mount intercooler put on. Have 550cc injectors currently and looking to go up to a 750cc set. I have an oversized radiator with an aftermarket controller fan. I figured I would put an aftermarket intake and header set on. Also was planning on sending my transmission out to Jacks for a stage 1 build. Any one have any suggestions?

also I already have my turbo at 21psi. I do not have a turbo timer or a boost controller in yet.
 
There is nothing wrong with a stock intake manifold. I highly doubt you would see any significant gains by putting an aftermarket IM on with the mods you referenced.
 
Buy link so your car can be tuned.

An evo3 or fp exhaust manifold would be a nice upgrade, or you could port the crap out of your stock one.

Also from my personal experience, I am much happier with a built 2.0l that I can rev to 9k rpms than I was with a 2.3l. The actual low rpm torque gains are minimal in my opinion and it isn't worth what you give up on the top end.
 
From my experience a stock stroke engine is more reliable than the stroker. If I was to build another engine that is not a 2.0l I would choose to do a de-stroked 2.1l.

I personally didn't have good luck with two 2.3l builds. I know plenty of people have but my personal opinion especially after dyno tuning a 2.3 and then a 2.0 on the same dyno with the same turbo in the same car back to back made me realize that it wasn't worth it. The 2.3l only got my setup about 20lb-ft of torque more and it only spooled 400rpm sooner. And I was scared to rev it past 7,000 rpm due to the inherent excess side load on the pistons. I got a much longer power band from my 2.0l setup.
 
if you do go the stroker route it is best to set everything up in a way that can make torque. IE: higher compression pistons, stock cams or cams designed to build torque not HP. also use the stock intake plenum on a stroker, and you want a well tuned scavenging exhaust, not just a giant dump pipe.

yes the stroker is not as HP and top end crazy, but a stroker can be a SUPER fun street build and do very good in a drag race due to the torque, if you design it to capitalize on what it does best. not try to stroke a motor set up to build HP.
